WillowHaven Posted March 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Can anyone confirm the process for kids being able to sign themselves in/out on NCL? The last time we were on NCL, my daughter was 7, so it wasn't something I even thought about. On their website, it says that kids 10-12 can sign themselves out if it's 2 hours after being signed in. Otherwise, the parent needs to come sign. I assume this is to prevent kids from just going in and out a whole bunch? My kiddo won't abuse the privilege, but will likely not want to stay 2 hours every time. Does anyone know if they strictly enforce this policy? And can they sign themselves in as well? Or do the parents have to do that? Also, when we were on RCI last year, my daughter was able to sign for her younger brother. He never chooses to use the kids area, but the option is nice to have. Is that the same on NCL?
mjkacmom Posted March 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2017 I think they enforce the two hours. I don't think they can sign themselves in, and I don't think children can sign out other children.
WillowHaven Posted March 2, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted March 2, 2017 We (and she!) really enjoyed the freedom to come and go on her own on the Explorer OTS. We may just wait a couple more years to go back on NCL. I assume once they are 13 they have more freedom?

On our last cruise the youngest were 10, 10 and 12. We told them we'd come back in an hour and let them out if they wanted. They looked like they were having fun, but they wanted to leave (a downside of having kids close in age who get along great, no need to try and make new friends). cb at sea Posted March 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2017 It's up to YOU if you allow them that privilege.....if you do, make sure they know where to find you, so they can tell you what their next adventure will be!
WillowHaven Posted March 3, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted March 3, 2017 Most definitely! We have three cruises under our belts with her having that privilege. She has done fabulously! Cutting back so much after that would be difficult for all of us.
