Peso or usd in cozumel?

which currency should I use in Cozumel? When I went to Mexico last year I used USD AND I got change back in Peso. I felt like I was getting cheated.

If you're doing a lot of shopping you may do slightly better with pesos but you're going to pay an exchange fee, so IMO if you're just there for the day it's not worth bothering with. Just use USD.

If you pay in USD then ask for your change in USD. We do and usually get it. Exchange rate may be better if you pay in Pesos but for 1 day stick with USD.

We've always just have used the US Dollar in Cozumel.

Most well known restaurants/bars will give you change back in US. Normally pay with 20's (US). Just ask.

For small purchases we take very small US bills. ;)

The US dollar is widely accepted at every tourist spot on Cozumel. Bring lots of $1 and $5 bills so that you do not have change issues. Cab drivers all over the world never seem to have change when you pull out a $20

I've only used Dollars in Cozumel and haven't seen pesos used much.
