Anyone ever win big in the casino ?

Recommended Posts

It wasn't on slots but on our Majesty cruise the w/e of Sept 16th my husband was sitting in the casino playing blackjack and a guy hit the progressive jackpot on the Carribean Stud Poker table with winnings around $24,000! My husband said no one EVER wins that so he was amazed. Needless to say that guy was one happy cruiser. We also won $2500 at the Bingo Jackpot night :)

I won on a Haywire machine on Celebrity a few years back - I think it was $800. Last year on Rhapsody saw a woman win 2 big jackpots on the same Wheel of Fortune machine. The second time it happened the casino manager was over there really making sure there wasn't something weird going on.

We just came back from Mariner 30 Oct. At the Captains question time, Ken Rush the CD told us someone had won $40.000. I am not sure what it was on, and also I believe one of the slot machines paid out $10.000. The CD said it was the highest winning they had ever had, and Captain Johnny said, yes, but we will get it back tomorrow. Maybe they did

WOW, Congrats to all the winners. I never won big but was happy to play for a long time on my money. Oh my.....does that mean I'm easy?

Not easy.... just realistic!!! ;)

I'm the same way... I'll budget XXX amount to play (actually, spend is probably more like it!) in the casino during the trip. Once that's gone, I'm done. No big wins (yet!) but I keep hoping! If you play and don't have fun without winning, you proably shouldn't play. It's definitely more fun to win though! :D

My DH played blackjack on the Enchantment every night a few years ago and won at least $200 each night. Add that up and you get over $1,400.

Your husband told me he Lost $1400. People from Kansas never tell the truth-lol. Hope you are doing well.

Last year first night on AOS I won $500 on my first $20 in the wild card video poker machines.

Year before I won $250 the first night on something.

January 2000, the Celebrity Horizon left Ft. Lauderdale in terrible seas. I was soooo sick DH said let's go play the slots. We went to a bank of quarter Blazing 7's and put our money in. I didn't even hit a button. I took my money out and went to the machine exactly behind the one I had been on. Put my $20.00 and hit max credits about 3 times and hit for the progressive of $1647.00. They took my picture (I looked really green) for the first picture on the wall of winners. I took my money and went to bed for 2 days. I got up in ST. Thomas and spent all the winnings. Also, at a lot since I hadn't eaten in 2 days.

On Navigator 11/03, won $1000 on dollar Jackpot Party machine. Gotta love my wife - I'm not big into slots and she suggested that I put $20 in the machine. Three max spins later I hit for the jackpot. Immediately ran up to the purser's desk and paid $800 towards our onboard account. Gave my wife $100 for her to play Blackjack.

My wife and I are no gamblers. We play our couple of free bucks we get in our coupon book for being diamond members. Once and only once we both hit around the same time on the quarter slots and left with about $80 to $100. Wow big spenders I know but we were playing with their money. Many times on cruises if we feel like gambling we take a 20 get quarters $10 each and when its gone we leave. I work with a guy that goes all the time and he says it takes about $100 to $150 to prime the slots before they start to pay out. Not my 150! My father always said "Never gamble with more money then you an afford to lose!"

Thats why I do not gamble I can not afford to. I would rather save my money for the next cruise that I want to take.

I've heard of people winning big in the casino, but remember that casinos (and not just the ones on cruise ships) are in business to take your money, not give it away.

We did some gambling on the Mariner last year, but found that their slot machines are very tight, so I would not count on winning big unless you play a lot. Of course, if you play table games you stand a better chance at doing well because you are not at the mercy of an arbitrary house advantage.

We've won a number of nice jackpots on RCCL - $3,600, $2,500, and quite a few $1,000, (mostly on Wheel of Fortune) and smaller ones $250 - $750). Does that mean in the long run we're winners? NOPE!! Hubby says we keep cruising just to visit the money we've left behind in the casino. We've never been lucky enough to win on our first dollar or two in the machines. When we do win, we're not smart enough to walk away! (But we do have fun!)

I had a Royal Flush dealt to me on a $1 poker machine on the last night of our Golden Princess voyage about 3 years ago........$4000 later I was a very happy camper. I screamed so loud my husband heard me way on the otherside of the casino and came running to see what happened....He was surprised!
