gardn198 Posted March 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I'm thinking of doing this on our Southern Caribbean cruise on the Fascination next Feb. Has anyone done it? How hardcore is it? Does your group have to pick one boat together or can you split off and race each other? We're a bachelorette party of 6, so it might be fun to split up and have some friendly competition! OCruisers Posted March 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2017 America's Cup Regatta has certainly stood the test of time! We took our teen children on it and now they are taking our grandchildren. :D

HawkIVette Posted March 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2017 I did it a few years back. You are split into 2 groups. You could request to stay together or split up if you want. Not necessarilty get the boat you want. I was on tthe Canada boat- True North. About 20 people on each. The captain will give out assignments or duties. I got picked to adjust the angle of the main sail, sat right on the back corner of the boat. Not everybody gets an assignment or has to. My wife got assigned to be the bartender (which she thoroughly enjoyed). Was a great excursion. Bought the pictures after and one of the crew shirts. Thinking about doing it again this coming Dec on our Fascination cruise.
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2017 If you like sailing and like sailboat racing, do this--at least once. Not hard core. There's a skipper and a crewman to handle the tough chores, sails etc. Grinders will trim the foresails when tacking. Main sheet wench guy will adjust the main at the skipper's direction, everyone else just sits back and relaxes...except the iceberg lookout who must keep looking around for those icebergs ;p Do not expect a leisurely motorsail/ sightseeing around Great Bay.
