Grandeur of the Seas Solo review - March 18-27 - Cabin 3552 Video

Recommended Posts

A few last minute thoughts...

Bring deodorizer for the bathroom, and use it! Close the bathroom door while you are in there. I truly believe that in many cases people are leaving that door open, and people walking by on the outside are smelling "sewer smells" in certain areas! Keep your business to yourself, don't share it.:)

Utilize every bit of space in your small cabins. Hang your clothes, use the drawers in the closet, use the shelves on both sided of your vanity, and well as the shelves where the safe is. Use the shelves in the bathroom, and don't forget to open your suitcase and slide it under the bed. There may be blankets under there, but have them removed for you to put your luggage there. Keep your cabin organized, it will feel bigger without a bunch of stuff all over. Bring a dollar store pop-up small laundry basket for dirty clothes to keep in your closet. Hang your garments back up after you wear them, and pack them the same going home. You know what has to be washed or dry cleaned, but take care of that at home. Don't just throw the dirty clothes all over the floor, and all over the cabin. Makes for a junky cabin.

If you order room service, please neatly place your tray out in the hall, with your napkin covering your stacked plate(s) when you finish. We had a great floor, where people neatly set their things out, but I have seen messes on other ships! Just nasty!

In case you make this mistake.... On my first arrival in Charleston, I decided to set the alarm on the phone. I made 2 mistakes in my punches, and finally got it right on the 3rd. I thought I was going to get 3 different phone calls, because there was no prompt to cancel the other 2. Not to worry, they automatically cancel out themselves when I punched in the correct time. Needless to say, I left it alone after that mess!

Well, it's 6am, so I'd better start taking my shower shortly. I'll be back if I think of anything else.

Cruzaholic...I'm bringer her in for you right now!:D

For anyone traveling that needs wheelchair assistance, there is a wonderful restroom stall right outside of the Paladins Lounge, getting ready to enter the Casino on deck 5. There are not many large ones out, but this one had a phone, and emergency cord, etc. Most of the others do not have all that.

For anyone boarding, there may be a delay, because they just announced that there has been a delay in departing passengers because of the rain!! My number has not even been called yet. We are departing on deck 4. I am sitting, and nobody is moving in the line. Hopefully it will pick up soon.

can you tell us who your captain is ?? thank you !

We had Captain Thor, but he was leaving the ship when we returned to Baltimore, I did not get the name of his replacement.

Tip: Go to the Solarium area on the last late night if it's still cool out. After setting my luggage out, and listening to some music, I decided to go up to the pool deck to see if anyone was up there. It was freezing, so I went to the Solarium. Let me tell you, it was nice and warm, but not too warm. There were not many people there, so it was nice and quiet. I stretched out on a lounge chair and wrote to my family members. It was so nice and peaceful! Check it out on you last night. They had food and drinks (coffee, tea, etc.) out there also, but I was full from dinner. The bar was closed at the pool deck that late. f16b5d7cf72a09687ff47a7d42437b79.jpg

Was on the same cruise, and I concur with all that was written. I thought Paul Rutter was pretty good at his job, and very visible, probably the most visible CD I had ever experienced. The weather on some days wasn't great, and in my opinion the activities during the day a little lacking, but that's just me. Very much enjoyed the Parade of Flags and seeing various crew members dance to songs from their country. Paul and Tornado Tanya were great together, specifically on the morning show. Paul really didn't seem to mind to let his staff and crew take the spotlight.

Enjoyable cruise, no real WOW factors for me, but that's ok, cause none were really expected, considering the size and age of the ship. The only one real WOW factor though is the crew. All I came across were engaging, polite and friendly, particularly the Windjammer staff.

Great review and spot on!

I missed the Parade of Flags!! I was in the dining room, darn it! Only when I saw some of the dining room staff walking pass my table with their flags to the back did I realize it was over!

Tornado Tanya was hilariously energetic, just a little cutie. She had me cracking up at the sexiest man contest. :)
