cflutist Posted March 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Just booked our very first cruise on Silversea Expeditions. Am very excited yet apprehensive at the same time, so much new information to absorb. Read the dress code (casual, informal, and formal). Do most of the women wear evening gowns on formal nights? In addition to normal attire on board ship, will need to plan attire for the expedition/wet landings in Antarctica. And for my insecurities, I hope that we fit in okay. Previous cruises have mostly been on Princess (but in Penthouse and Owner's suites), with a cruise on the tall ship Royal Clipper thrown in. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Rare RachelG Posted March 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2017 The Cloud will new as an expedition ship; however, on the other expedition ships, there are no formal nights. I have never seen an evening gown on Explorer or Galapagos. I doubt Cloud will have formal nights when it goes to the expedition ship mode. People do tend to dress up a little more on the captain's welcome night and the Venetian society night, but no tuxes or gowns.
Rare Fletcher Posted March 24, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2017 There are enough penguin suits on the land in Antarctica without there being yet more on board a ship. This dress code thing is way, way out of date.

Don't worry about fitting in, we started on Princess and P&O and do not have any problem with the nature of SS and its guests. Up until now the Cloud will have been typical of SS with the vast majority of guests enjoying dressing up, although only a smallish proportion of women wear evening gowns on formal nights. Many wear cocktail dresses. What is not clear yet is how the Cloud will be run after the refit. I suggest you wait until later in the year and see how the early voyages go. Congratulations on your first SS voyage and best wishes for a fabulous time. Sent from my iPad using Forums
