Spirit Overnight on GSC

Recommended Posts

I notice that the Spirit spends an overnight at GSC next year.

From the NCL site:

".........many of which include an overnight stay on NCL’s own Private Island, Great Stirrup Cay".

What shore activities do they have planned or is it just an opportunity to spend longer on the beach? They don't seem to gain anything unless they are going to have an evening beach barbeque.

probably a way to conserve fuel; looks like you get there at 7:30 pm, I doubt they would tender in darkness for anything on the island (where there would also not be enough light).

i think it is pretty lousy to do that; i'd want to be in a "real" port where you could disembark and see the sites/casino/dinner/shop/whatever.

They must have market research to justify staying at anchor off the island all night rather than making the most of the available ports.

As you say, they don't really have facilities for an overnight at GSC although the website states staying "on the island" rather than "at" the island.

I could be cynical and say that guests are running up their ship account whilst on board, but as there seems to be quite a high proportion of time spent on board, I don't think that this will be NCL's reason to keep guests onboard.

Am disappointed as I was hoping that the Spirit's arrival in NY would give us a reason to try NYC again but this cruise just doesn't appeal to me.

One day in Orlando and a morning in Nassau.......?

Althogh GSC is a nice beach day,the whole package looks rather uninspired, even dull and certainly not worth a nine hour flight to get there.

Bring a flash light - I have to believe they will have evening events onshore. They would be crazy to drop anchor and have to close the duty free stores and casino.

If they were not going ashore they could cruise, keep things open, and drop anchor at dawn to let passengers spend a few hours on the beach before heading back to NYC.

We will see but I smell giant beach party - pushing drinks and moving the BBQ to the island.

Tony check out the other itineraries - this is the by far the weakest. The 8 day with an overnight in St Thomas, Tortola, Bermuda is a better option and use of your time

Yes, Shoreguy, the 9 night Eastern Carribean does look more interesting with loads of time to enjoy the ship.

The beach party does sound like a favourite, but it also gives them to chance to cut and run early if needed, to make sure they're back in NY for the 9 nighter.

The nine nighter sounds more worth it for us anyway.:)
