To Marie: Sheraton FLL Airport

Hi Marie, I'm sorry it took me so long to give you the review of the Sheraton. When I returned home from the Zuiderdam on the 12th I promptly caught a cold.

 

The hotel was nice, clean and the staff was very friendly. The only complaint I would have is that it seemed to be a bit overpriced. The evening we were there they had a buffet dinner, which was nice....but not that nice for the price. While I don't drink beer, several in my group remarked that $5.75 for a beer was a bit much.

 

Half of my group arrived the day before and because of the high prices went to another place fairly close by. I believe the van driver will take you there. They stated that the prices there were about the same as the Sheraton. All in all if I stayed there again I would probably pack a lunchable and call it a day. :)

Thank you so much for the feedback on the Sheraton. Are you saying that the van driver took the group to a nearby eating establishment? Our plans after arrival are to taxi to Las Olas Blvd, but our traveling companions are arriving later in the evening, so will be looking for dinner. Was it just buffet or did they also have a dinner menu?

Marie, as I stated on the Zuiderdam review, I'm having dinner with AlisonL tonight. I'll ask her what particular jewelers she recommended to Ry. In addition, she was part of the group that ate at a different location in FLL. So I'll go with pen and paper in hand tonight and get all the details from her for you.

Mary - You are a gem. Thanks so much. Just an fyi, I will be in Vegas Sun-Wednesday in case you don't hear from me. I was getting anxious for the cruise to come, so we booked a Vegas trip to hold us over, lol.

Marie, while cruising is my favorite type of vacation, going to Vegas is my second favorite. One of the reasons I love cruising is because of the casino, that way I can combine my enjoyment. I'm envious!

 

Just returned from a 3 hour dinner with AlisonL and this is what she told me. She told Ry to go to Magnum Jewelers. They are a bit high end, but she trusts them, as does the rest of our group, many make purchases there time and again. They came very close to selling me a black and white diamond ring, the quality of the ring was excellent, but I didn't want my husband to continue having a stroke, so I let it go...well for now. She said to mention her name, and I can attest that they will know exactly who you are talking about. She said the rest of the shops on the list are okay, but she prefers Magnums.

 

About the airport hotel. She said they paid the driver a good tip to take them to some sort of crab house. The prices there were comparable to the hotel prices. At the hotel they did have a menu to choose from on Thursday and the buffet was only on Friday when I arrived.

Hi Mary - Thanks for the info. I wrote it down and put it in my wonderful blue packet :). I'll let you know how it goes in Vegas. My sister and her dh are meeting us there, so it should be fun. The rates are really low right now. We are staying at the Aladdin for $49 plus some perks! VIVA LAS VEGAS :).
