Suites on Vision of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

We have just booked the Vision of the seas to mexico for Oct. 06

We have never sailed on RCCL before, But have sailed on Carnival 3 times and Princess 1 Time, Thought we would try another cruiseline, as the ship is our main focus. Wondering how Rccl compares to Princess, Also we are booked in an owners suite and wondering if RCCL has any addl. perks for suite passengers?

Any info would be great.

There's another thread here somewhere about suite perks. I'm going Dec 2006 in a Jr Suite but we've sailed on Vision before in a cat H (or G, can't remember). The ship is lovely and intimate, never felt crowded and the crew was great fun. That's why we booked on her again. Vision doesn't have a concierge lounge yet, I don't know if one is being added during her drydock Jan 2-12. But for your suite I believe you get robes, priority embarkation and disembarkation, private waiting area for disembarkation, I don't know if the bathroom will be stocked with toiletries. But it has an honor bar (refrig), remember nothing is free anymore with RCCL!

Hi Dale & Evelyn. I just asked this same question about three or four days ago. I sail on Vision on 12-11-05 and I'm also in an Owners Suite. Here's the string I starting and the reply threads. I also found some threads with directions to pictures of the OS on the Vision Class ship's. Hope this helps you as it did me. If not, I'm going to take a bunch of photo's next month. I'll be sure to send them to you if you desire.

Also, I inquired about having a private party in my suite. If that's something your thinking about, I can send you the email I got from RCCL's C&A rep on how to do it.

Don't know how it compares to Princess, but there's no comparison to the CAT 12 on Carnival. We've been Cat 12 on Ecstasy and Triumph; RS and OS on Monarch, and OS on Mariner. The regular rooms on RCI are smaller than Carnival, but the OS are much much nicer than 12 on Carnival. Also, we seemed to get no better treatment on Carnival when booking a 12 (like table preference not honored on 4 different sailings).

As far as perks go:

1) Special check-in line

2) Priority and escorted boarding

3) If there's no concierge lounge - expect a treat delivered in the afternoon - otherwise just a couple afternoons

4) Robes (and sometimes slippers) in room

5) DVD player/stereo and a checkout list - if there's a concierge you can get dvds there.

6) Dining preference honored (we always get table for 2)

7) Double Crown and Anchor points

8) Priority debarkation

9) Priority luggage delivery - last cruise, our bags were at our room within 45 minutes of our pulling in the parking lot!!

10) On the Vision, the OSs are way in front, very little traffic in the hallways.

One thing we've found on the RCI suites - we end up spending a LOT of time in the room and on the balcony. We'll hang out there instead of the pool area.

On the Vision, from the balcony you have a great view of the side bridge extension, and you can watch the crew when arriving and leaving a port if they are on your side.

I think there's a couple more perks that I don't remember. We're on the Vision Jan 15, in OS 8000. The ship is going into drydock just before our cruise, and supposedly there'll be a Chops or Portofinos put and maybe a concierge lounge.

Have fun, and please post your thoughts after your cruise.

Tony, Thanks for the information, That's what we were looking for. Also the info on hosting a party in suite would be very helpful. You can e-mail us at daleu@sbcglobal.net

Larry and Nancy,

We too have sailed in a cat. 12 on carnival and also found that there was no special extras, We tried to get a table for 2 on all three sailings but no luck, Also tried to have dinner in our suite on 2 occasions had was out of luck on that also.(did get to board the ships early)

Princess wasn't much better in a PH suite, But did get table for 2, We also book the suites as we prefer to spend alot of time on the balcany, Prefer that to time at the pool. Much less crowded. We cruise every other year just so we can splurge on the suite cabins. On the Vision we have booked cabin 8000, as i noticed that it was at the very end of the hallway.

less traffic we hope.Any pictures or info you can share is wonderful..

Once again thank you for the info.

We have been in an owners suite on the Vision of hte Seas and really enjoyed it. The bathroom is something special!!! We got food goodies on the formal nights. Softdrinks and wine were complimentory in the cabin. We also received a fruit basket on debarkation day. It was very nice and you will enjoy it. Oh, you will have a DVD and Boise music system system in the living room. Wrap around sofa. Cusioned lounge chairs on the balcony. And two larger than normal TVs. I think they were 36 inches, can't remember for sure.

Dale and Evelyn,

Exact same reason we picked that cabin! The suite arrangement on Vision is similar to that of the Monarch (Vision Deck 8 and Monarch Deck 10). We've stayed in the same cabin on Monarch twice and actually prefer it to the RS which is on the starboard side. If you want the best place to hear Karaoke till 1am, book the RS on Monarch.

We'll post pictures after our cruise in January.

Debbie, I sure will. I hate going into something blind. RCCL's site and the other TA's sites just don't get the job done when it come to photo's of rooms and suites.

The pictures on the webshots link look like our Grand Suite on the Vision. My cousin had OS # 8504 and their suite was very different than our GS. The Suite is bigger, You can go to RCCL's web site and find pictures of the differant suites there.

Tony,

I received your info on hostion a party, Thank you very much.

If the pictures are of the GS, Than where might we find some of the OS.?

I am having a devil of a time trying to find any..

Once again, Thanks

DAle & Evelyn

If you read above (I think my second post), the web shot links take you to the OS on a VISION CLASS ship (not the Vision of the Seas). It show a seperate jetted tud and shower. It also shows a much larger bathroom with two sinks, a toilet and bedit. The OS suites on Vision are like Monarch. A long and wide room, rather than a "L" shaped one.

Here's another link that may help. Click on virtual ship tours and find the Vision of the Seas under RCCL. You can take a look at all the suites and cabins, plus different areas about the ship.

Again, hope this helps.

Dale and Evelyn........the pictures posted are of a Grand Suite. The GS is about 385 square feet, and the Owners Suite is about 520 square feet.

You will find a few pictures of our cabin (found on the Legend thread) when we have hosted parties. We have had as many as 48 people in our cabin for a party. We have the staff remove all of the chairs on the veranda, then add a table so that people can mingle outside as well as in. We always have a bartender and they do an incredible job of setting up the bar and table for appetizers.

We have a favorite cabin (8502) that is just behind the RS.

I'm not sure why you are lacking pictures. Look on the RCCL site, they will give you a 360 degree view of the cabin. The bathroom is a double sink, jacuzzi tub and seperate shower. There is also a bidet. All done in marble.

Hope this helps.

We have had both a GS (8518) and OS (8002) on the Vision. I would love to post my photos here but we lost our digital chips in the airport! 21 day cruise, 100's of pictures and all gone!

Anyway, the OS is real nice. Very spacious with a huge sitting area, dining table with four chairs, big bath with a nice jaccuzi and separate shower. Plenty of closet space and lots of drawers. Two TV's and a good sound system. However, we liked the GS better. The layout was just more comfortable. I like having the bed by the window. Plus the location was much more convenient. We had a party in the GS and had about 25 people with no problem. Room service did a great job and even sent housekeeping up later to clean up.

The balconies were identical.

Dale and Evelyn, this might be important to you: We did get and invitation to the Captains table when we were in the OS. :)

There were three other couples invited to the Captain's table that night. Two of the other couples were also in OS. The other couple was from Greece, the Captain's home country.

We were also b2b, as were one of the other couples. I think being in an OS really upped our odds.

As a side bar: after the dinner and as soon as it was polite, all of us ladies excused ourselves to powder our noses. Mind you, none of us had ever met, but we got into the restroom and just started hooting and hollering and hugging each other..we were so glad it was over! It was four hours of pure h--l but sure glad I had the chance.

Hi...new to this board and have a question.

I have a GS booked on Freedom sailing 9/3/05. An OS is available for a sailing the end of November. Help me decide please!

Stay where we are or go for the OS. Also I have heard of a lounge if you book a suite. Do any of these perks apply to a GS or just an OS.

Thank you,

Pat

My, I was wondering if you had to sit there until the Captain dismissed ya. What made dining with the Captain unenjoyable? The food? The service? The conversation? I knew Capt George was born in Australia (of Greek heritage) and spent his teenage years in San Fransico but I didn't know he lived there now. Did he happen to mention who the relief captain was for him on Vision OTS?

That doesn't sound like the Captains tables that we have enjoyed. Was this everyones first experience sitting with the Captain? Were you ladies uptight just not knowing what to expect? Most of the time when we dine with the Captain, we close the dining room. There are wonderful conversations, a couple of jokes, and the Captain always has great stories to tell.

Years ago, from the time an invitation to dine with the Captain would arrive, my DW would be uncomfortable and uptight, wondering if her dress was OK, and if she could properly converse with the Captain, and I would tell her, just go with the flow. Today, it's a different story for her.

Actually, it was Captain Nick Antalis as this was a few years ago. We were doing the Hawaii repo as a b2b. The meal wasn't unenjoyable, it was just "tense". Nick was a wonderful host and the crew adored him. The food was very good and different from any menu we have ever seen. The service was perfect. We were seated in the middle of the dining room, lower level, and people were staring and taking pictures of us. I was horribly underdressed, a pants suit, but at least DH had his tux. The other couples at the table were not very talkative.

I would be a lot more relaxed if I had a chance to dine with the Captain again.

Pat, the lounge is available to GS and above.
