Carnival Valor... Favorite Deck & Why?

Sorry typo. Deck 12. There is no adult only pool.

Deck 12 has the Serenity (adults only). There is an aft pool on Deck 9 (Prometheus), which she is saying used to be adults only, but is now family friendly. The pizza place is back there, so I always thought it was odd it was adults only, but I enjoyed the smaller crowd there previously. I loved floating in the salt water back there.

I'm sailing on the Valor on 10 days first time with Carnival. I noticed too that the talk about the Valor is very sparse. I'll let you know what I think on my return.😀

It may be a good thing that there are not a lot of talk about the Valor. That may simple mean there is not a lot to complain about. People mainly post about complaints, new happenings on the ship, or something superb that really standout. No news is likely good news.

From what I have heard and seen, Valor is a great ship.

just got off the Valor. first cruise in about 8 years, last one was Disney, this was my first time with Carnival. we were on 11 by the spa, which was a pretty good location. the stairs to the Serenity deck were right outside the room and you're right there at the main area of 9 with the bars, pools, and food locations. there's also not many people up there so getting in and out of elevators is usually pretty easy. my only complaint with the way the ship is laid out is that there's only one set of elevators that goes beyond deck 9, so you have to navigate to the correct set of elevators to get back up to 11 or else you go up to 9 and have to shove your way past all of the drunk people and kids which is even more difficult if you want to bring some food up to the serenity deck or back to your room. also YMMV on this but where we were, we were right below the game area where there was a bag toss game so during the day if we stayed in our room we heard lots of heavy thumps. i think you'd be better off trying to get to deck 10 instead if being close to the serenity area and the main food/pool areas is something attractive to you.

Valor was great for the most part but i found the food extremely disappointing. the place serving burgers and tacos is only open for 6 hours, after that you can't get any and i thought the buffet was pretty horrible. breakfast, lunch and dinner most of the time the food was cold. the only time i ever got a hot breakfast was this morning when we went to the dining room. it got to the point where on the last two days i would just get a little bit of everything and pray at least half of what was on my plate was at least above room temperature. i'd recommend dining in and skipping the buffet when possible.

as far as drinking goes, i'd say avoid most of the main bars. they're usually staffed by people that are little more than automatons who try to pump out drinks as fast as possible with no personality or flair - although that's fine if you just wanna grab a quick drink inbetween activities. i cannot recommend the Alchemy Bar enough. Milos is the bartender there and he was wonderful. great personality, funny, very informative, when the bar wasn't too busy he was always cracking jokes with us and other people at the bar and would take time out to explain things about the drinks if we asked. also had no problem making drinks to order insofar as altering ingredients (for one of us he made a drink using an entire habanero pepper, very spicy and good) or just making whatever as long as he had the ingredients on hand.

i don't think i'll do Carnival again, but it wasn't a really bad experience persay. but when you pay as much as you do, everything really should be on point, so having the food be that horrible and the lack of availability really killed it for me. i think too i need to look for a more adult oriented cruise next time, rather than the family oriented one.

Thank you for the detailed cruise. Currently we have been offered deck 6. My concern is deck 5 below, Promenade. Does anyone have an opinion on sleeping above a lot of action?

I wouldn't be above the theater or casino for sure. Restaurant yes.

My favourite deck is 9, because it had my cabin on. It was the 6k grand scenic ocean view. I've never spent that much time inside a cabin before but sunset/sunrise or stargazing was just amazing. We had 9200 and it has floor to ceiling windows all around one entire side. It's also around twice the floor space of a regular ocean view with very little added cost.

Loved itinerary and the ship. Best cruise ever!

I will be in room 9199 in December and I am so excited!! I haven't seen too much about this specific room any where online so I think I might have to take some video and lots of pictures for other future cruisers. I haven't been on a cruise in 6 years so I am curious about all the changes that have happened. And a little nervous because I will have my two young (5 years old and 2 years old) children with me. But I figured the view will be really cool for their first cruise.

I was Deck 6 Aft and loved the location. It was a quick walk down the stairs to the lounges, Alchemy Bar and the Red Frog Pub. I enjoyed the cruise, liked the food (only did MDR once though, ate at Chefs Table, Scarletts twice, and had Pizza for dinner one night when we missed Early Dining due to late excursion.) My only complaints would be some of the decor was cheesy and the windows were filthy (do they clean them ever?) Otherwise I like the size and flow of the ship.

I'll be cruising on Valor in July so will post again after that. This is my first cruise and we have a large group of six adults and 10 teenagers 16-17 years old (Girl Scout Troop last hurrah). I'm pretty excited.

We're going as budget friendly as possible,so we're all in interior rooms. We plan to go to Paradise Beach in Cozumel and then an AutoProgresso tour of ruins and cenote swimming in Progresso.

Can't wait to read more from some of you cruising soon! Thanks!

We did that tour through AutoProgresso last year and enjoyed it. Be sure to bring plenty of bug spray because that area is hot and humid and the mosquitos were eating us alive!

We just returned from a Back to Back on the Valor 4/13 and 4/17. You may not hear much about this ship because the staff on her are the best we have encountered in our last 4 or 5 Carnival Cruises. Even the casino staff is friendly. Grace at the Lobby Bar is a lot nicer than the other bartenders at that bar and all 3 of the bar tenders, Milos, Attila and Tiana at the Alchemy bar are really great. Look for Luis on the Serenity Deck and Joey in the Comedy Club they are both on top of service. I can say enough good things about the staff. Now the food, it was just meh! I wish Carnival would train all of their staff like those on the Valor. Enjoy!

I've sailed the Valor 7 times and had great cruises 6 out of 7. I like deck 7 (or sometimes 8) for a cabin location, midship to aft areas. That way I generally have cabins above and below me, without getting the noise from the casino band, the comedy club or piano bar. It's a quick walk up to deck 9 Lido and a quicker walk down to deck 5 casino.

I usually did the western itinerary from this ship, Coz, Belize, Roatan and Cayman, and usually enjoyed beach, snorkeling, and ruins as excursions or activities.

The other ships in the Conquest class like Valor are Glory, Freedom and Liberty. More alike than not in build and layout, only differences are in decor and some upgrades. I didn't like being on the Conquest April 1-9 sailing when they allowed "accompanied children" into the aft hot tubs without having another adult only area in place.

My 1 bad experience was on a free casino cruise where I had a lousy riviera deck inside with a broken tv, clogged shower drain, and constant noise from the engine as well as the thrusters when docking. I couldn't reach the platinum service phone, it was never answered. so I had to go up to guest services and report the deficiencies, which did get resolved.

Kitkat, I don't know much about specific rooms but I do know that if noise is an issue to you, try getting a room on a deck that has rooms above and below.

Thanks! I pretty much ruled out those cabins on deck 8. I was able to snag 7401 which is between passanger decks. I'm still thinking about the cabins on the Lido. It would be convenient but maybe too convenient - too close to all the food lol.\\

We'll be going on our 1st cruise on the Valor next weekend. We got a balcony on deck 7. If I remember, I'll come back in here to post our experience. Really looking forward to this. My father and brother have already done this cruise on the Valor. Both said it was great.

We sailed on her last summer. Loved the decor, with its ode to heroism. You can feel everything from Knights in Shining Armor to Rosie the Riveter to Neil Armstrong. Favorite decor of any ship we have been on. Our kids felt like she was missing something....she only had one water slide, perhaps that was it. We have never been on a cruise that we didn't enjoy, but the DW and I liked the Valor more than our kids did. Hope you have a safe and wonderful cruise!
