Mystic6 Posted April 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2017 This will be the first time we have done a port excursion not at Castaway Cay. We are swimming with dolphins at Grand Cayman. The Ashore time is 10:30am, and our excursion time is 10:45am. How does this work? Is 10:45am the time we meet somewhere on the ship? The time we depart the ship? I'm hoping someone who has done something like this before can help explain it. Thanks!

And, once the whole group is there, be escorted off the ship to the bus/transportation to the excursion site. Be aware, while you've booked the "10:45" time, it can change onboard. You'll receive excursion tickets in your room once onboard, and the time/location for the meet up is indicated on there.
Mystic6 Posted April 9, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Thanks Shmoo! Since it is Grand Cayman we will be tendering. I found a GC tendering info online that helps too.
moki'smommy Posted April 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2017 As noted, if it is thru DCL, the time you are given is the time you need to be at the meeting place on the ship with all your stuff, ready to go. The meeting place is always a public area, typically a lounge. You will go to the tender as a group and will cut the line. My experience at Grand Cayman is that morning start times meet on the ship and proceed as above. Afternoon start times meet at the tender port on shore (so that you can enjoy the morning without needing to return to the ship to meet the excursion group.) Do be aware that if the tenders can't operate due to weather or rough seas, your excursion will be canceled. Unfortunately, this is probably the most often missed port due to the safety issues with tendering.
Mystic6 Posted April 9, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted April 9, 2017 Thanks. It is through DCL, and from what I saw we would be meeting in the theater. And what you said about morning vs. afternoon was spot on.
