sg1phileshipper Posted April 26, 2017 Author #101 Share Posted April 26, 2017 My husband and I are also with you on this cruise. I won the casino door prize at the Meet and Mingle which included 24 hours of Internet. I am using that now. Strangest thing was my husband also won a casino door prize. We have never been so lucky. We ate at chops which was delicious as usual. After a really good dinner on the second night in the dining room we have opted to go to Windjammer for the last two nights. Wonderful selection and great desserts. Love reading your posts! Sent from my iPhone using Forums I was roaming the Windjammer just earlier and it looked pretty good. Enjoy those 24 hours! sg1phileshipper Posted April 26, 2017 Author #102 Share Posted April 26, 2017 I spent a good part of the day by the pool, but it was still very windy. Today was the belly flop competition. It was lots of fun and the best part was all the contestants flopping together. I read mist of the day, by the pool, on the helipad, on deck 4, but ended up in my room to take a hot shower because I was freezing. The wind is so cold. Dinner at Giovanni's again, and again it was amazing I went to the pool to watch Fences on the big screen and both pools are drained. Despite a hoodie, a fleece and two towels I had to leave and get back inside. One, I was cold and two there is so much wind it gave me a headache. sg1phileshipper Posted April 26, 2017 Author #103 Share Posted April 26, 2017 It will be an early night for me, I am extremely tired. I bet it's that healthy sea air! I just managed to forget my sea pass in my room and had to get a new one if I wanted to sleep in my bed. Funny thing is that on the one they made at guest relations it says I have a soda package, which I don't. RCI's IT at work? Of course, that one goes in the safe since I am too honest and like my cans better. I am off to continue with my Star Trek TNG marathon if Netflix cooperates! Goodnight everyone. harryfat1 Posted April 27, 2017 #105 Share Posted April 27, 2017 Hi, Cindy, Good to talk with you again. It's wonderful to read about another review on the Freedom and looking at your various pictures, I kept saying, hey, I was standing at that spot of the ship just few months ago. Thanks for bringing back the wonderful memories. I hope you have enough space in your suitcase for all the shopping you did in Florida. Hope the weather will improve as you journey northward. sg1phileshipper Posted April 27, 2017 Author #108 Share Posted April 27, 2017 Had a very nice day today, despite the weather not cooperating! It wasn't very sunny and still really windy. I ran into Mario today and asked him what weather he had on his 20 crossings. Guess what? This is baddest weather he had. Of course, it had to happen when I'm on the ship! Round 3 master sea chef and it keeps getting better and better. They are adding the oddest combination to the mystery box. Poor judges! Had breakfast at Cafe Promenade today. Fruit, granola and some bread. It was really good. Lunch at Giovanni's was amazing! Walked around deck 4 today and ran into the doggie litter box. There's 4 dogs on board. Ended up in the cantilevered hot tub today and that felt so nice. Except the water was slushing and I couldn't read my book. And it was cold when I got out. Spent a good part of the day reading. Had dinner in the MDR and the food has been really good so far! Show was a comedy/illusion show, but Drew was much better. Standing on the Promenade right now and it's the dancing in the street parade. Way too crowded. Adult comedy with Jimmy Carroll later on. But first I will be going to my stateroom to change and post the compasses! Cindy
sg1phileshipper Posted April 27, 2017 Author #109 Share Posted April 27, 2017 Cruise director Michele is amazing! He's everywhere, has lots of energy and he is funny! Love him! Captain Espen is very present on the ship too. Stateroom 8631: amazing location! Close to everything and barely a peep, even with loud music on the promenade, I only hear a faint bass. Wifi, surf and stream is pretty good. Netflix still works in the middle of the Atlantic. Interactive tv is a hit or miss. It works one time out of three! Our current position. sg1phileshipper Posted April 28, 2017 Author #113 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Thanks for sharing, we'll be on Freedom on June 4! Sent from my iPhone using Forums Thank you for taking the time to share your cruise! Although, I think I might be glad to be at home with warning signs about going outside and “sick bags” stuffed into the stairway handrails… If you should meet Leonardo’s waitress Raluca, please do say ‘Hello’ from her April 9th guests and tell her that we are hoping to hear from her. She is a fabulous waitress and a wonderful person with an interesting family that she’s happy to talk about should you inquire. Wishing you calmer winds! Love to be traveling along with you in spirit. I did my first cruise on Freedom and will be sailing again next year. I can't wait. I hope the seas calm down a bit for you. Really enjoying your review. Sounds fab apart from the weather. Can you take photos of the entertainment with a mobile phone? Noticed it says no flash photography but would love to be able to take some photos on my phone. Hope the weather improves soon. Thank you all for reading! travelplus Posted April 28, 2017 #117 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Thanks for your review. My Father and I will be taking the Brilliance from Tampa to Amsterdam in April 2018 with ports of call in Punto Degalda Azores, Cob, Dublin and Waterford Ireland. Then we will spend time in Amsterdam. We love the Trans Atlantics and have done New Orleans to Rome, Sao Paulo(Santos) Brazil to Barcelona, San Juan-Barcelona , Barcelona-Dubai, Panama Canal Cruise on Princess from Ft. Lauderdale-Los Angles and Cunard 2 week Med from Athens-Rome. We are Emerald on Royal Caribbean and will be Diamond after 8 more nights of sailing with Royal after our upcoming cruise. I try to chose exotic destinations. Too bad Royal Caribbean does not have Biscoff Cookies with Nutella and Specloos(sp).

Biscoff is another thing we do well in Belgium, but I have never seen them with nutella though. We do have the speculoos spread and it is delicious! I am really loving this cruise, I want to do another TA already! Thank you for your review loving every minute of it as we sail in July on the Med. I am really hoping your weather improves. sg1phileshipper Posted April 28, 2017 Author #120 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Got up at 7.15 this morning fir the character breakfast and it was lots of fun, even if you don't have any kids. The menu is specially designed for it! Round 4 of master sea chef was on today and we now have 3 chefs left. It has been lots of fun and very entertaining so far. Returned to my stateroom to find this on my bed. Very nice, but also very unexpected. At 11.30 we did the CC slot pull and even if we didn't wind the jackpot, it was fun. Another hour forward at noon, so I had a late lunch in the MDR. The Tutti salad is amazing. The food has been wonderful so far! Went up to deck 11 to catch some sun, but the wind makes it cold and started creating waterfalls. Went to the welcome back party to see what all that was about and ran into King Julian. the ice skaters put up a short show and it was nice. Some people reached milestones and got celebrated and of course Mario gave a little speech. He's one funny guy. Cindy
sg1phileshipper Posted April 28, 2017 Author #121 Share Posted April 28, 2017 Did MTD at 7, same CC table every day. I am seated at a great table, the same waiters every day, but I think I prefer the traditional dining. Plus there seems to be lines all the time. Again the food was great! Not going to the show tonight, just watching some Star Trek in the company of my new friend. He's the cutest towel animal ever, except for the duckling I got on Adventure and took home with me. Cruise Compass for day 7, which is tomorrow I believe The wind must be blowing pretty hard, as I can feel the ship shaking. Tomorrow I have the all access tour, so stay turned for pictures. Good night all. Cindy

Ery Posted April 29, 2017 #123 Share Posted April 29, 2017 Love reading this! We are doing the transatlantic in October on Freedom and this is making me so jealous!!! I have a favor if you find time friends of ours are going to be staying in cabin 1880 on Deck 12, they are concerned with the area as it looks to be off the health club and it's part of the newly added cabins, if you could could you possibly snap a few photos of the entrance to the cabins on 12 and the hallway near it??? It would make them stop freaking out about that part lol Sent from my iPhone using Forums

That being sad the rocking motion is awful as you are all the way upfront. This is my third TA and this one is by far the windiest and rockiest crossing I have experienced.
