Just back from the Sovereign!

We just wanted to post and let everyone know we just returned from a 4 day Sovereign of the Seas cruise. This was our first with RCCL and we really enjoyed it! I will post a detailed review later but all in all the food was great, the staff was wonderful and very helpful at all times and the entertainment was top notch. We loved Nassau and Coco Cay and we had the most perfect weather possible. For those of you going, please make sure you go to Atlantis and purchase the bracelets for $29 to allow you excess into the aquarium and digs. It is money well spent! I will give you more details later in my review.

If any of you have questions, ask away and I will try to answer.

We took a taxi to Atlantis on our own for $4 PP each way. After getting there, we decided to buy a bracelet pass to enter the grounds of Atlantis, which was more than worth the $29 PP cost. We got to see the entire aquarium, all the grounds and beaches. What a beautiful property. We would have spent the entire day there but having never been to Nassau, we split the day up and went to Cable Beach in the afternoon. We hopped on a city bus downtown for $1 each and toured the city on our own with the locals. There was nothing much to see other than run down areas. Atlantis is definately the place to go and do go on your own, wear your swimsuits under clothes and plan to spend the day there. You won't regret it!

Food was good on the ship. We aren't picky eaters so we were happy with the selection and quality and the service was quite nice. All staff members were wonderful. The cruise director was great and we loved the production shows and other entertainment. We felt the entertainment was above our expectations.

We were in an inside room on deck 5 and the rooms are very small but who spends time in the room?!! We tuned the tv in to the camera shot onboard and pretended it was our window. We even turned the sound off and left it on at night so we could tell when the sun came up. No problem. We really can't complain about anything about this cruise. It was great and we would do it again for the price!!!

cruzzers, Did you have access to the beaches & pools & slides w/ the $29.00 bracelet @ Atlantis? Where exactly do you purchase the bracelets? We are going on the SOS for 4 nights 5/8/2006. Thank you in advance.

Kelly

You can purchase them downstairs in the Coral Tower, but we were told specifically, as I'm sure they tell all day pass guest, that the beaches and pools were NOT included, so we did as they asked. I'm sure people do sneak in though....I just wouldn't. Guest of the Atlantis wear a metalic colored band, while day a day pass guest wears a flat colored band, that's how they know who is who.

Smokester...As far as we could see, there was no one to check your bracelets once you entered the grounds in Atlantis. 1corona4u is correct in the fact that they tell you not to use the pools and beach areas but there is no one on the grounds to enforce that rule and lots of people do not wear any kind of bracelet at all. (they put them in their bags so they wouldn't get a tan line) No one really cares once you pay for the grounds entrance. There are areas where you can eat and drink and relax as well as tour all the aquarium and see all the beautiful grounds there. It is very nice. You will enjoy it and I am sure no one will be the least bit interested if you want to dip your feet in a cool pool or wade in the ocean at one point during your visit. Enjoy!!

I will respectfully have to disagree with some of your statements. If they didn't care, they wouldn't tell you not to use them. Those ammenities are there for the people who spend THOUSANDS per day, not the ones that spend $29.00. We did actually see secutiry checking bands when we were there, specifically at the entrance to the beach. The people who have spend hundreds of $$ to book a room at the Comfort Suites for access to the pool, and beach, might also take issue with what you said.

I guess it's each to their own, and whatever their level of respect for "rules" may be. This is much like the smuggling of liquor on board in my mind. They tell you not to, but people do it anyway. Nonetheless, it doesn't make it the right thing to do. Just my opinion.

When we were there last December there was absolutely no way to get to the pools, beach etc without a wristband. They were checking at every entrance point. We just taxied over to have a look around anyways - weren't wanting to use the amenities on that trip but thought it would be kind of cool to walk around and see it if it was possible. We were able to walk around the outside of Atlantis above where the aquarium is and that was about it for outside. There were employees posted at every walkway checking bands. We really enjoyed seeing what we could see anyway.

oh pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Putting a bottle of booze in my luggage to enjoy a drink while I get dressed or relax is not IMHO a terrible thing. I think I won't break the RCI bank!!!

I will agree with you on sneaking on to the Atlantis property. I might do it at night if I was at the casino and wanted to check it out before I left but I would'nt make a day plan to scam them all day.

Since you were not sailing during a time that children are typically out of school for vacation, was a lot of children on board? We leave on 12/5, kids are staying at home this time, but I was just wondering of the ship had lots of kids. And was the ship full to capacity?
