Escape to Paradise- tell me more!

Just booked a February cruise today on the Escape which includes Tortola and St. Thomas. Very excited to try something other than the Western itinerary and Bermuda. Tell me something about the ship and these stops which I might find interesting and should not miss. I have sailed on the Breakaway- how different if any is the Escape?

I've been on the Getaway but don't get on the Escape until next weekend. From what I've read it seems like the Breakaway class ships are more alike than not. I can give some more insight to this once I return though!

 

I have however been to these ports (other than Nassau). I think the Virgin Islands are among the most scenic of all Caribbean ports (at least in terms of views from the ship). So definitely don't miss sailing in or out of those two stops!

Take an excursion (through NCL or not, doesn't matter) to Jost van Dyke beach in Tortola. Absolutely stunning and the world famous Soggy Dollar Bar is there.

Make sure to catch sail away from both St Thomas and especially Tortola. Great views, perfect way to leave a port!

Early in the week visit Food Republic before everyone else discovers it. Small prices for great small plates. It's a big reason we booked again on the Escape. If you get a chance to walk around Tortola, don't miss Pusser's Bar. Try some Conch Fritters! And as already mentioned, find a nice place to watch sail-away from Tortola. You'll be getting a great view of several small islands in the British Virgin Islands. We love the BVIs:cool:

I also suggest Pusser's in Tortola. Just order a Painkiller and enjoy. Then order one on the ship, even though they'll use Pussers rum and taste the difference. When leaving Tortola, I recommend the port side. Outside at the Wine cellar is perfect. As far as the Escape goes, it's the new and improved Breakaway. The balconies are even bigger.

We did the Eastern Caribbean sailing on the Escape this past February. We LOVED the Escape and the itinerary plus it didn't hurt that our bid for an upgrade was accepted. I hope our vacation video highlights gets you excited...enjoy! :cool:
