kpatrick74 Posted April 30, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2017 That's about the cost of one at any resort. This is why I get the drink package; no sticker shock. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

awestover89 Posted April 30, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2017 It's really not much steeper than what I pay at a restaurant or a bar, and when you figure in the logistics of storage and inventory, it makes sense that there's a bit of a premium. My local bar has about twenty competitors within walking distance, if you figure other bars as well as restaurants, and more if you figure in grocery stores and convenience stores that sell the ingredients. They can also restock their supplies as needed. A cruise ship has no competition, and has to manage their entire inventory only at the end/beginning of a cruise or at some ports, depending on regulations. grandgeezer Posted April 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2017 I don't really care what they charge for drinks, we do our drinking during the 3 1/2 hour of open bar for Diamond members. We also have a drink or two in port as it's a lot cheaper than on the ship.

matj2000 Posted May 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2017 The cruise lines artificially over-inflate the prices of drinks. This way it makes the over-priced drink packages seem worth buying...
