Not sure as I believe the Dawn is repositioning to SJ for the first time this year with the first journey on 11/12/17., I will be on this ship on 12/28/17 and can tell you it leaves from the Pan Am pier at 9 PM. All other ships departing from SJ piers normally begin boarding around 11:30AM.

Seeing as you do not depart until 9pm, can you check in then get off the ship later to explore SJ?

We didn't, but I think you can. The muster drill was at the regular 4:00 ish time as I recall. And the Pan Am pier is a taxi ride back into Old San Juan. Plenty of taxis though.

We are on the first cruise out of San Juan (11/12) and were just told by our PCC that we will be leaving from Pier 4 West in Old San Juan -- which is definitely not what I expected since NCL historically leaves from the Pan American Pier.

Our PCC does generally have a clue, so I'm not sure what to believe.

Does anyone know a site that actually tells you WHAT PIER ships will dock? Most of the common ones (cruisett and cruise time tables) don't have this information.

Thanks!

I was just trying to figure this out yesterday. What I found on the NCL Website (Port FAQs) was that it will dock at the Pan American Pier, but it was not ship or date specific. I am interested in what the reality will be as we are staying at the Sheraton, across the street from the Old San Juan Pier departing the following week.

This is what he sent to us -- it was copied and pasted from somewhere on his end, so...

we were on the Gem last fall out of San Juan (Pan Am pier), and boarded at about 11:30 (arrived shortly before that- went right through). We had a suite but didn't even have time to sit down- we got there and were escorted right on. There were very few people waiting in general- probably because the boarding time is so spread out rather than just 11-2 like it is for most Miami departures.

The muster drill was at 4:00, but then also had one the next day because so many people either weren't onboard yet, or left the ship to do something before the evening departure. It made the muster actually more efficient because it was only for half the people!
