Rare steamboats Posted May 24, 2017 #26 Share Posted May 24, 2017 We always smile when folks talk about not looking like tourists. So here is the shocker...especially for Americans. You will always look like a tourist....so accept it and get on with your trip. Hank, I couldn´t agree more :D! Even as a German it´s obvious that I´m a tourist and I don´t try to hide it. Common sense is the best answer. I´m using a fanny pack for years although I know it´s not fashionable and identifies me as a tourist in an instant. In the meantime I do have a theft safe fanny pack. Holds my "valuables" meaning money, cards, cell phone. And I can always have a hand on it too in crowded situations. For "disguise" I´m usually using my RCI string backpack (holding my bottle of water, a sweater or anything else which has no real value) even when I´m crusing with any other cruise line :')! steamboats
Rare irvington Posted May 27, 2017 #27 Share Posted May 27, 2017 The size restriction we were given for both the Colosseum and the Vatican was 12 x 12 x 6. Sent from my iPad using Forums Thanks so much. That's really helpful.
tokyo Posted June 1, 2017 #28 Share Posted June 1, 2017 Having been all over Europe I can say that there is no way that anyone can pretend to be a non tourist. As for cameras etc. I have two of the smallest DSLR's that canon make. One has an 10-18 mm lens on it and the other 17-50 mm lens. I wear a pair of shorts with a large pocket, that has velcro, zip and safety pins to keep it secure. One camera is always in the pocket, the other around my neck, which I always have one hand on. I very seldom take credit cards ashore, just my cruise card. I work out how much cash I will need, which seldom is a great deal, and take that. I use a small back pack to carry a bottle of water, memory cards etc.
lhuggi1 Posted June 5, 2017 #29 Share Posted June 5, 2017 I used mine all over Europe last summer. I wore to the front and just used common sense in crowds. Be aware and alert and you'll do just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
