Texas Posted May 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2017 We will be on a cruise starting in Quebec and ending in Boston in late September. We would like to play golf while in one or two of the Canadian ports. We will be making port in Sydney, Halifax and St John, Bay of Fundy. If you have played any courses close to the port with beautiful views I would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
Matt_75 Posted May 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2017 I would suggest The Links at Brunello www.thelinksatbrunello.com for your Halifax stop. A great newer course but the views aren't great. The Lakes www.thelakesgolfclub.ca/ outside Sydney will have better views. I would suggest Cabot Links/Cliffs bit I don't think you would have time to get to the course, play and back. maryann ns Posted May 26, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 26, 2017 Our best golf courses are not near these ports. There is no way you can get to Inverness for Cabot Links or Cabot Cliffs. You cannot even drive there and back in your short time in port. Check out Bell Bay near Baddeck, or glen Arbour near Halifax. p_mori7 Posted May 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2017 If you can stay a few days in advance of your cruise: http://www.fairmont.com/richelieu-charlevoix/media/photos/
Caronrick Posted May 30, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2017 Here in the Halifax area, I would suggest Glen Arbour as well. You are looking about a 30 min transfer from the port. This course is very well maintained and a pleasure to play. Another suggestion a little further out is Lost Creek. Less expensive, and a good challenge. Add another 10 min to the transfer though. About 25 min away from the port is Granite Springs. Closer to the coast, again a nice challenge, and the drive to get there is beautiful as well. (Approx 2/3 the way to Peggy's Cove.) We don't have much in the way of costal courses to play, and the ones that are close, will be subject to higher winds usually, but not always. If you have the time in Quebec, I agree that Charlevoix is an amazing area to visit! Murray Bay golf course is a nice little treat in that area.
