Rare Jeter02 Posted May 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2017 Just wanted to check, as I have a Princess Cruises excursion booked to do the helicopter to Norris Glacier in Juneau for dog mushing / sledding end of July. A friend of mine who just sailed on the Ruby a week ago, claimed there is no snow, so they were doing the dog sledding on rollers. IS this true with Norris Glacier? Its an expensive excursion, to have no snow for the full effect of the experience. Thanks in advance for any input.
Rare Coral Posted May 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2017 There probably is no snow in Juneau anymore. And there are excursions on wheels for dog sledding for those who don't want to pay for the cost of a helicopter excursion. If you are flying and landing on a glacier - there is usually snow until mid-August or so. When the snow melts on the glacier and they can't dog sled, they cancel those tours. Again - that doesn't usually happen until mid to end of August. He may be confusing 2 different things all together. Hopefully a local familiar with Norris Glacier will respond.
