mvrck1010 Posted May 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2017 NCL gave us some OBV to use due to an issue on a previous cruise. Can we use this for specialty dining and shore excursion? I know that we can't use it in the casino or for gratuities. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

anandaindonesia Posted May 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2017 Yes you can use it for specialty dining and shorex. I believe you can also use it for gratuities on board. If you want to prepay your gratuities prior to the cruise, then you cannot use the OBC for it. Sent from my SM-G610F using Tapatalk
cb at sea Posted May 28, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2017 It is merely a CREDIT against any charges you incur...if you have $200 OBC, then the 1st $200 you spend is covered by the OBC. You can't specify how it will be used.
Cruiser Who Knows Nothing Posted May 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2017 It is merely a CREDIT against any charges you incur...if you have $200 OBC, then the 1st $200 you spend is covered by the OBC. You can't specify how it will be used. It's not a credit of ANY charge you incur. It's a credit for charges that fall into the non-refundable OBC category. easyboy Posted May 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2017 You can use your OBC for expenses onboard. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Maplemoose Posted May 28, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 28, 2017 You are saying it can't be used against casino advances? There was another thread where the presumption was that it could.Anyone have actual experience to draw upon?

No. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
darlene62 Posted May 29, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2017 I had followed these thread closely prior to my cruise and I can honestly say that when I boarded my cruise I was still a bit confused. I had refundable OBC from my TA and I also had OBC from NCL. I made very few charges to my account first few days. I believe just the drink taxes in leaving NYC. I did do a charge from the casino on my TA obc.......and half way thru I did another charge on my account in the casino and the NCL obc was used. It wasn't till my last day that I went to the shops but according to my account that I checked on TV my OBC had mostly been used in casino. I wouldn't count on my experience will be everyone's experience based on the postings here but for me my NCL OBC was used when I did an account transfer from the casino. mvrck1010 Posted May 29, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted May 29, 2017 Here is what they sent me. The etc. part is a bit vague. It says no casino and can't use it for service charges. I will probably just give them a call Sent from my iPhone using Forums

That would work too.

Gratuities are extended above the service charges and non refundable OBC can be used for those.
