covey Posted November 25, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2005 I'm cruising the week of December 4 and really don't want to miss the Duke/Texas game. From past experience, I know to expect only international soccer. Has anyone had any experience with picking up games with these new satellite radios? I'm on the Millie and she will be leaving Nassau at 5:30 p.m. on the 10th headed for FLL. Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems like with all these ships have to offer they could tune in to ESPN on THIS side of the ocean. Thanks.
anjnshelly Posted November 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2005 We were able to watch some NFL games on the Connie last week. I'm pretty sure it was ESPN... I don't follow college so I'm not sure if they had extensive coverage or not. The casino bar seemed to have a lot of sports coverage on their TVs if you don't want to sit in your room. After more than 20 Celebrity cruses mostly at bowl times ,the only thing I can tell you is that it is a total crap shoot.I suggest though, that you watch the movie FEVER PITCH to try and get some perspective on the situation,as well as a few good laughs. rucruisn2 Posted November 26, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2005 We were on the Summitt one year during the Final Four. Being huge UConn fans, we HAD to watch our team. The "sports bar" did carry the games broadcast on ESPN. But for some reason the satelite signal was lost for awhile. Thought I'd go crazy, called guest realations and everything. They must have thought I was nuts. PS>>> WE WON!!!!
danblinn Posted November 26, 2005 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2005 I can relate - I remember calling home repeatedly to get the updated score on the Big East championship game in port in San Juan during a muster drill in March 2004. You should get good reception on your satellite radio and hear the game. It will be a good one; enjoy. Go Huskies!

Leaving for Florida for the winter in two weeks and already stressing out on how to find sports bars who will carry the Men's and Women's games. When are you cruising? newmexicoNita Posted November 26, 2005 #8 Share Posted November 26, 2005 it depends on who the cruise line has contracted with. Coming home from Europe on NCL in Sept we had the best selection I have ever seen on a ship, but that doesn't mean you will or we will when we cruise in mid Dec. Good luck to Duke, we are certainly not Texas fans. NMNita
