Any sea grass problems?

Sometimes this stuff really goes wild and messes up the beach. Can anyone who has been to a Coz beach, report how the situation is currently? We'll be there in about 14 days.

All of the popular beach clubs are lined up along the same side of the island - if it affects one, it will impact all of them. No predicting if or when.

But to add to John's reply. Most will sweep the sand early in the morning. And the stuff seems to be more attracted to the mainland beaches than Coz, but again, it can vary depending on current and season.

Do you mean seagrass, or do you mean the sargassum (seaweed) problem?

Good question! It's that nasty, weedy stuff that gets all over the beach.

Sargassum has been a major problem in many areas of the Caribbean over the last few years and huge amounts of money have been spent by governments tackling the problem.

 

Around Cozumel it has predominantly affected the east coast of Cozumel and the Cancun/Playa coastline. Here is a link to forecast map
