xtaylorjean13 Posted June 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2017 In the beginning of booking this cruise we didn't plan to make reservations for the MDR because it was only 3 adults and 1 child. We assumed walking in would be fine with 4, but now our group has grown to 4 adult, 2 teenagers, and 3 kids. So I guess what the question is, is it possible to now just walk in with 9 people and still get sat together? Or even to just call a couple hours ahead that day and try to reserve? I know we probably won't eat there every night but trying to figure out our options. Also does the main dining room actually take two hours? cb at sea Posted June 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2017 It's possible...but just like ANY restaurant, larger parties are harder to seat....if you know you'll be dining as a group, a call earlier in the day to set a time...that will help immensely ! You are getting a 3 course meal...it shouldn't take 2 full hours, but it's not "McDonalds"! Figure 1 1/2 for a decent dinner!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums It's not possible to predict how long the wait might be for a table for 9. I'd try to make reservations for at least the first night and then ask the MTD people what they think the wait might be on subsequent nights with no reservations. If you have a time constraint, speak to your waiter, they will do what it takes to make it happen.
Hobiecat01 Posted June 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2017 We did MTD on the Allure with 12. We made a reservation for the first night and asked them to book it each night. We did three specialty dinners and on those nights just called and cancelled those nights. We never had to wait more than 5 min. and had great service. xtaylorjean13 Posted June 8, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted June 8, 2017 One of the big issues was when trying to pick a time, all the "good" times were taken already and what's left will interfere with shows we are planning to see. That's why I was hoping no reservations could work out. I guess we'll reserve atleast the first night and play it by ear. setsail Posted June 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 8, 2017 It's easy to set your own times in the windjammer when you need to work around the show times
luvsmike Posted June 8, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 8, 2017 We had 8 in our party on the Oasis last month and MTD was kind of stressful. We could choose 5:30 or 8:30 but not 7:00. They really want to turn two tables per evening...I get it. But those in out party thought 5:30 was too early and 8:30 was too late. We split the time and ate half the time early and half the time late. We ate at Chops one evening at 6:30 which was perfect. MTD is easier when the party is small.
