Rescue at sea - an amazing event on our voyage aboard QM2

We had quite an exciting morning yesterday, Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The Queen Mary 2, the ship we are now traveling aboard en route from Southampton to NYC, rescued a yachtsman after his vessel was disabled in a North Atlantic storm with 15 meter waves. We had skirted north of the storm but still had 5 meter waves. By the time we reached the tiny yacht the seas were calmer and the yachtsman was able to drift alongside the QM2 where one of the small maneuverables had been launched and the crewmen were able to pluck him from danger. The yacht was abandoned and left to sink.

Here is a link to the BBC story. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40234274

The rescued yachtsman will be telling his story later this week. I am certain it will be standing room only!
