Geoffa30 Posted June 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Hi All. My partner and I normally cruise with Princess but will be sailing with Royal Caribbean for the first time on the Navigator leaving from Southampton on 29 September. Just wondering whether a Tuxedo would be over the top for formal nights. Having sailed from Southampton before on Celebrity and Princess where a lot of passengers were British we found people did observe the formal dress code quite strictly. Just want to make sure we're prepared. Thanks in advance for any advice. Geoff.
sddsddean Posted June 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2017 I would guess about 40% will wear a Tuxedo and about 40% a suit. Rest made up of sports jackets and 'not really bothering'. I've always worn a suit for formals on RCI and that is fine, but wear a Tux if you want. The only place I felt a bit out of place was on a P&O cruise when all the other guys were wearing a tux except for me! It was still fine though! Geoffa30 Posted June 11, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Thanks Simon. We have sailed on P&O on the Britannia in the Caribbean and found more people than not were wearing a Tux. Thankfully we had done the same.
Redrobo Posted June 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Thanks Simon. We have sailed on P&O on the Britannia in the Caribbean and found more people than not were wearing a Tux. Thankfully we had done the same. Wear a Tux if you have one, you will not be outnumbered.
Merly Posted June 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 11, 2017 Sailings from Southampton and Europe in general tend to be more formal. My DH always wears a dinner suit ( tux), however we are starting to reconsider for cruises from the US.
easyboy Posted June 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2017 In all our sailings out of Southampton, we have observed that almost all from the UK are in their tux. Most of the ladies are in their long gowns. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Forums mobile app
crosby99 Posted June 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted June 11, 2017 As someone who gave up on Tux sometime back but does wear a suit....I have certainly been in the minority on UK sailings not in a Tux.....an odd person wears neither but you will stand out. On P&O I was very much in the minority in a suit.
