Booking on board

This will be our second cruise and in the past we have used bargin TAs for our cruises (BJs Travel & Hotwire). Is it cheaper to book another cruise while on board? Are these sites cheaper the RCI directly?

Thanks,

Mike

Same price as online. You get an onboard credit for booking though.

Book it onboard (if it is not in full payment or in penalty phase already) and you can always have it transferred to a TA for the service. If your TA has a better deal with amenities because of a group or consolated rate, you will probably lose the onboard credit that RCCL offered you, as you will have to cancela and rebook with the agent.

Not true. My upcoming sailing was cheaper through my TA than the price quoted on board. As long as I kept the same booking number, the credit will be there waiting when I board.

Flagger, you are correct. We booked on board and the price was indeed lower when we got home (maybe 2-3 weeks later). The TA matched it and we still kept our credit. As stated, the key is keeping the same booking number with RCCL. Remember, some travel agencies have their own booking numbers. Make sure that the RCCL booking number stays the same as opposed to the agency's.

Right...but what I was referring to is if your agent has their own special offer with a group that has other benefits (like a better shipboard credit or other goodies), you may need to cancel your original booking. Also, some lower rates that come avail are for new bookings only. Keeping your booking number will preserve your offer from RCCL you got onboard.

This is also true. Didn't exactly consider all angles before firing off a reply!:o Sorry!
