UBP 18% Gratuity and Service Charge Question

It could be 100% if they want. Any cruise booked in the UK is under UK law and under UK law you can always remove service charge. That's why I say it is hidden in the pricing. :)

 

When I said we I was referring generally to the UK -. Personally I will NEVER EVER pay 20% service to anyone - why would you for doing your job you are paid to do. In fact recent experience is even Black Taxis in London are not getting tips form UK customers. A friend of our said the Americans are the bat at tipping its in the culture. There is no right or wrong but in the UK Service charges are where charged around 10% maybe 12.5%

Because most service jobs in the US do not pay mininum wage, they are gratuity based jobs. In the UK, you have a different pay scale for service job employees.
