QM2 Embarcation time Southampton

We will be traveling for about a month prior to boarding QM2 in Southampton later this summer. Because of that, it was necessary to make our arrangements to arrive at the port well before we received the boarding documents.

It looks as if we will arrive at the dock about two hours earlier than what our e-tickets are indicating will be our boarding time (just got the e-tix this morning).

As of today, it is not possible to change our arrival time - so does this mean we will be waiting for two hours to board? Does Cunard strictly enforce the boarding time on the ticket?

We will have a significant amount of luggage - can that be safely dropped off with porters for delivery to our cabin, so we might find somewhere to have lunch if we are waiting? Is there anywhere within reasonable walking distance to comfortably wait?

Don't even give it another thought Scdreamer, just turn up and proceed to the check-area as and when you arrive, If they require you to wait they'll tell you and give you a coloured card . More often than not, if there is space in the check-in line you will be direct to an available check-in agent. 'Yes' you can drop your luggage off at the kerb-side luggage belt any time during the day after 10.30 am ( ish) .

No need to worry about Lunch, Lunch for Britannia Guests is served ( until around 3/4pm ish) in the Lido. (Grill guests in their respective restaurants)

No doubt someone will come along and correct me about the protocol for the stated boarding times and staggered boarding. I'm in and out of Southampton up to four or five times a year on Cunard, these meet & greet agents are professional and quite relaxed about it, if there is a need to wait and take a seat, they will advise you . ;)

We recently sailed on the QM2 from Brooklyn that should be the same as SO....

There was plenty of room and food in the Kings Court for all till they closed before the Boat Muster Drill half hour before sailing.

With everyone boarding, there was a good turn over of tables for all size groups with maybe a little wait. The chefs in the Kings Court did their very best to replace all the items at all the different food stations. Most of the wait was the hot items.

We even wanted to try the CAFE CARINTHIA but already ate before we saw it. It is also a quiet location off the beaten path.

The least crowd was at the Chef's Gallery and Pizza station in the aft area of the KC....

Enjoy your Voyage and Bon Voyage...
