wide eyed wanderer Posted July 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2017 I remember reading years ago that there are 2 or 3 cruise terminals in Stockholm and that one was considered the best to arrive in to. Can't remember which one or why-I think it was more scenic/spectacular. Does anyone know which that might have been? How is Nynashamn? One ship we are considering stops there. Desdichado62 Posted July 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2017 There are several different berthing options for Stockholm, see my thread for more information http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2312690 I would personally choose ship that berths in central Stockholm and it doesn't really matter which on, except maybe if you end up mooring to the buoy on Strömmen. John Bull Posted July 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Nynashamn is by far the worst option. :( It's usually the very biggest ships which stop there because they can't navigate the channel through the archipelago of islands to Stockholm - and that is a glorious sail-in, IMHO one of the best in the world. Instead you have an hour's travel by train or by road from Nynashamn on the Baltic coast to Stockholm. (in unfavourable circumstances - wind, tides, etc - ships scheduled to sail through the archipelago & berth in Stockholm sometimes have to stop at Nynashamn. The bigger & less-manouvrable the ship, the greater the chances of having to stop at Nynashamn. Stadtsgarten (spelling?) is probably easiest, and ho-ho boats call there. Frihamnen needs a short bus or taxi ride. But both of those are in central Stockholm & both are accessed by that glorious sail-in. I don't know the Strommen mooring. Desdichado62 Posted July 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2017 Well, both Regal Princess and it's larger cousin Norwegian Getaway have berthed in Stockholm on several occasions.
Heartgrove Posted July 17, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2017 We docked at Stadtsgarden S167 last month aboard the Zuiderdam. Luck of the draw but we were on the starboard side with the ship docked to port side. Grona Lund was just opposite of us and so we had a beautiful view of the city. The transit of the Stockholm Archipelago was fantastic!

sjde Posted September 30, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2017 NCL has a ship (The Breakaway) mooring next summer at Freeport? Never heard of that one.
