Hello.

I am going on the Splendor next June 2018 to Mexican Rivera . After looking at the website I noticed that the MDR is not open for Breakfast & Lunch when in port ? First , I must tell you I do not care for buffet style meals due a bad past experience. what else is available if you don't do buffets. please advise & Thank you in advance .

One MDR will be open for breakfast on port days, usually open until 9am.

Only two options for lunch onboard for port days-Room Service or one of the Buffet serve yourself stations.

The buffet has lots of choices grill, pizza, deli, Indian or upstairs from the buffet. The Indian is usually the least crowded, the upstairs place (think it's now a BBQ) is empty at the beginning of the cruise because many haven't discovered it yet.

Go ashore for lunch. Lots of very good restaurants close to port. The Mexican Riviera board has lots of info.

Just off Splendor from the 07/02 to 07/08 cruise. The aft MDR, the Gold Pearl was open every day including all port days for breakfast.

The fun times will have all the times the dining room is open in the morning.

The "buffet" area is not just one long line of serve yourself food.

The stations mentioned above ,pizza, deli, etc. have service for made to order meals. Since many folks leave the ship on port days, it does not pay to have the MDR open all day long just in case a few folks show up for meals.

You won't starve.
