Has anyone stayed at Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale lately?

Is the hurricane damage been repaired yet? I know that the hotel

is rennovating the pool area. Does anyone think that the pool will be

ready by Feb 3. We have a reservation there for precruise on Feb 3rd.

I would like to know if I should cancel and find another hotel.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

We stayed there on 11/27. The pool area and area by the lanai rooms were all torn up. There was no landscaping, etc. It was pretty bleak looking. We overheard that the pool/grounds area renovation was to be completed by January. You might want to call the hotel directly to check. We had a tower room which was very nice. If we had to stay in a lanai room, I would have been extremely upset and disappointed.

We used to stay at this Hotel prior to our cruises out of Fort Lauderdale. Then a few years back we stayed at the Lago Mar Resort. If you have concerns about the completion of the renovations, you might want to look at Lago Mar. It's right off the ocean. From its beach you can see Cruise Ships arriving and departing Fort Lauderdale.

I called them direct Wednesday evening past and was told that the pool was not yet open.

They advised that it would be open early January.

I'm there January 22/06 for night; got it on PL for $125 post cruise.

Hope that helps

I just called them and "Mona" who answered with, "It's beautiful day at the Hyatt," told me that "YES, THE POOL IS OPEN." (Also the pool bar; I sort of made her repeat the affirmative answer to make sure I heard her correctly!) I told her we had been there several times and were spending three days pre-cruise (in two weeks) and wanted to make sure that we would have the resort to enjoy! (Sort of like sea days on board the ship)

It will be interesting to see what's been done. Wish us luck!
