Transportation Tampa to Orlando on Thanksgiving Day

Hi there,

Two Aussie cruisers here looking for help re: getting from port of Tampa to downtown Orlando on Thanksgiving Day.

We arrive on Brilliance into Tampa the morning of Thanksgiving Day 23rd November. As we are Aussie, we do not celebrate Thanksgiving, so are happy to 'hit the road' straight away and head straight to Orlando where we have two nights' accommodation.

I have found all the info on the Hertz LE Marriott Waterside location and the Enterprise West Kennedy location with the shuttle service, however no matter what I type in to try and make a dummy booking, it seems those locations are closed for Thanksgiving.

I know we can head from the cruise terminal to the airport and pick up a rental car there, to drive to Orlando, but that seemed like a bit of fuss, so I was after any recommendations on either a private shuttle/town car, or public transport if it runs on Thanksgiving?

Hope you can help!

Cheers,

Julieanne

I checked Avis in downtown Tampa, and they are also closed on Thanksgiving day. If it was me, I'd pick up the car at the TPA airport. It will cost you a flat rate of $25 to get there from the port.

Try Megabus or another long-distance bus service. It's only about a 90-minute trip. Megabus schedules currently only go up to Nov. 14, but you should be able to find out about Thanksgiving by contacting them.
