eliana Posted August 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We are sailing with Cunard for the first time later this year. We have booked a Princess Grill suite. Does this mean we have to have all our meals in the Princess Grill, or can we have breakfast and lunch elsewhere, particularly as we prefer buffets for breakfast and midday. Host Hattie Posted August 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2017 You don't have to have all your meals in the Princess Grill but your table will be available if you want to use it. Otherwise there is Room Service or the Lido Buffet.
ToadOfToadHall Posted August 14, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2017 You can also have breakfast and lunch in the main dining room if you wanted. And lunch in the Golden Lion is also an option.
eliana Posted August 14, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Thanks. Is there something like a "good food guide" to the restaurants on the Queen Elizabeth?
insanemagnet Posted August 14, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2017 And lunch in the Golden Lion is also an option. It is, but I wouldn't say a good one.
Tillylovesseabourn Posted August 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Thanks. Is there something like a "good food guide" to the restaurants on the Queen Elizabeth? To be honest with you I think you will find a big quality and choice difference between the fare in grills and the fare in the lido and golden lion. safarigal Posted August 14, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 14, 2017 If you want a buffet, then the lido would be your place for breakfast and lunch. However do also consider the Main Dining Room, Golden Lion (I actually really enjoy the food there), the Verandah ($$$), room service (on your balcony), and if the weather is good you can dine alfresco in the Grills Terrace, or at the Lido Pool area. I love them all! I do not know of any "good food guide" to the restaurants on QE - the best food is to be found in the Grills Restaurant and the Verandah, but in my humble opinion all options are perfectly satisfactory when you don't have to prepare and cook it yourself. Tillylovesseabourn Posted August 14, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Really don't see the point in paying a cover charge for the verandah if you are in grills. Waste of money.
insanemagnet Posted August 14, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Really don't see the point in paying a cover charge for the verandah if you are in grills. Waste of money. I couldn't see the point when I ate there, as the food was better in Britannia. Fortunately Cunard were paying not me.
Adammara Posted August 14, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 14, 2017 Please try breakfast and lunch in PG before you go elsewhere! The table is yours for the cruise so you get to know your waiters, and there is an excellent choice, We enjoy a buffet breakfast but I really enjoyed going through the breakfast menu, trying something different every day. If the weather is fine, grab a table in the courtyard, the best outdoor meal I think we have ever had! Sample menu's are on the Cunard website.
