captain_rad Posted December 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Right behind the old Queen Mary, right in front of where the Spruce Goose was kept. Off the stern you will be able to see downtown Long Beach. Raphael QE2 NY-LA:)
Rok4u2 Posted December 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Does that mean that I walk over to the Queen Mary? Is this the same place that Carnival dock it's ships? I went on the PRIDE in Oct and we walked over from the Queen Mary.
highcbob Posted December 4, 2005 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2005 Wait - as the first poster said, the QM2 will be berthed in San Pedro which is a little north of Long Beach. You are getting confused with the Carnival berth located just across from the original 'Queen' which IS located in Long Beach.
Calliope Posted December 4, 2005 #6 Share Posted December 4, 2005 In 2003 the QE2 berthed in San Pedro. We were right downstream from the WWII vintage Liberty Ship. I understand that the wharf next to the QM is not capable of handling the QE2 or QM2 due to their deep draughts.
Rok4u2 Posted December 4, 2005 #7 Share Posted December 4, 2005 So what you are telling me is that "Capt Rad" is wrong as to where the QE2 will dock? (no offense to Capt Rad)
stowaway2k Posted December 5, 2005 #8 Share Posted December 5, 2005 So what you are telling me is that "Capt Rad" is wrong as to where the QE2 will dock? (no offense to Capt Rad) correct. QE2, as always, will berth at the Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center, in San Pedro. This is about six miles away from the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Before Google Earth updated their images, QE2 could be seen at her berth in San Pedro. hmmm....where is she now on the updated Google Earth? QM2 is in NYC
NakedLidoGuy Posted December 5, 2005 #9 Share Posted December 5, 2005 correct.QE2, as always, will berth at the Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center, in San Pedro. This is about six miles away from the Queen Mary in Long Beach. So this means QM2 will use the San Pedro facilities for her 2 cruises in Feb2006?? I was under the impression she'll be next to her 'cousin' in Long Beach for some festivities (if any are planned..) But SPedro will suffice.
kennethwthomas17 Posted December 5, 2005 #10 Share Posted December 5, 2005 We have a reservation at the Queen Mary Hotel prior to the cruise to Hawaii 2/25/06. I thought the QM2 was to dock next to the original Queen Mary. Is this not the case? highcbob Posted December 5, 2005 #11 Share Posted December 5, 2005 Kenneth: there was some 'chatter' one time that they MAY attempt to bring QM2 into Long Beach to berth near her older sisiter. However it appears that idea has come and gone. Unless Cunard change things as February approaches, QM2 is still scheduled for San Perdo. I don't think the Carnival pier in L.B. can handle a ship of this size.
captain_rad Posted December 6, 2005 #12 Share Posted December 6, 2005 Ok folks, I made a mistake. When I was on the Queen Mary (The original one) I was told that the QM2 and the QE2 were to park at Carnivals new pier right behind the Queen Mary. And since a Carnival ship was there, blocking my ocean view from Sir Winston's, it all sounded good to me. But after making a few phone calls to verify what was right, since I was told that I was WRONG:eek: The QE2 is scheduled to dock at The Port of Los Angeles World Cruise Center. Birth 93. Sorry for the bad info.:o See you on board in New York Raphael
