mjkStirling Posted August 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2017 My mum and dad are visiting these French ports in October. They are both in their 70's and my mum has limited mobility. Any information on the ports and what to do would be greatly appreciated. Some of the ship's excursions require too much walking for them. Thanks. onyx007 Posted August 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2017 I don't know Rouen, but La Rochelle has a lovely old town. I don't know where the ship will anchor, but I'm sure there will be either a shuttle, public bus or taxi which will bring them to the center. There are some cafés with view over the old port, good for some relaxing hours and people watching, if they are lucky, there might also be a market day. Lorient on the other hand has not much to offer (in my eyes) beside the impressive U-Boot-Bunker the Germans built in WW II. It's now a museum. mjkStirling Posted August 28, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 28, 2017 Thanks. She was on a waiting list for the shuttle bus to La Rochelle and has managed to secure a place. Some people watching will be good as she wants to get off the ship and it will break up the walking.
Rare Host Bonjour Posted August 30, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2017 Thanks. She was on a waiting list for the shuttle bus to La Rochelle and has managed to secure a place. Some people watching will be good as she wants to get off the ship and it will break up the walking. Glad they got a spot for La Rochelle. Rouen is lovely and historic but does require some walking, not a lot but there are some cobblestones to contend with as well. Hope they have a great trip.
