Lady Hudson Posted August 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2017 Beware. Rate of payment for Blackjack is now 6 to 5 rather than 3 to 2. My ten dollar bet now only gets $12 for bj rather than $15. My $15 bet now gets $3 rather than $7.50. Big loss for players -- especially if you play a lot over the course of a cruise. It now day 5 of my trip and I have been tracking my blackjacks. Have lost almost $150 with this new rule. Will have to consider in the future if I will even gamble. This is a slap in the face to Blackjack players. The $25 table is still 3 to 2 but I prefer not to play that amount. Katherine
Otterman34 Posted September 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Hello, What ship are you on? Also, I know that the single deck games pay 3 to 2, but you are saying that the multi-deck tables where the minimum bet is under $25 all have a 3 to 2 payout on blackjacks now? I am just trying to make sure I understand as this would be pretty bad for us players..... Thank you for the info.
Tutontow Posted September 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2017 It seems like cruise ships and the LV strip have pretty much ruined BJ. It looks like I might just play the pass line on craps my next cruise.
Lady Hudson Posted September 1, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Grandeur. The only BJ table paying 3 to 2 is the $25 table. The single deck, $6 and $10 tables are paying 6 to 5. We heard from a dealer on Harmony that this is fleetwide. The $15 tables, if they have them, might still be 3 to 2, but not sure about that. Lady Hudson Posted September 1, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted September 1, 2017 Don't know if it is shuffle after every hand. Might depend on the number of players.

The odds on the Pass Line and on the Come bets as well as the Don't for each of those bets are the only bets in the casino that pay true odds. Oh yeah, continuing the beatings, RCCL offers single-odds only on craps. (FWIW, NCL was 3-4-5 and Princess and HAL were both double-odds when I sailed with those lines.) HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Big_G_111: Any of the six lines owned by The Carnival Corporation has 2x odds on the craps table. RCCL only offers single odds. Still, even at single odds you have a better game that at anything in the casino. NCL and Celebrity offer 3x-4x- and 5x odds. The higher the odds at craps does not necessarily make it a better game. While minimally better, if you bet at least $15 on the pass or come, you can take the following odds: $15 on 4 or 10 $20 on 5 or 9 $25 on 6 or 8 Also, if you are betting at least $25 on the pass or come, you can take double odds on RCI ships (at least that has been my experience). However, there are some players that do bet more than that, at least initially.

Hey CasinoPlayer, I have done the betting amounts and odds on my last 3 cruises (all RCI ships). 2x on Freedom, and most recently in March on Oasis of the Seas. SRF Posted September 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Actually it is worse than just 6 to 5. For a $6 bet, they pay $7, instead of the $7.20 actual 6 to 5 payout. So for each BJ on a $6 bet, you lose $2 ($7 versus $9 payout). That said, I made $120 playing the last cruise, on small betting. And I had a lot of fun. Lady Hudson Posted September 17, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted September 17, 2017 So . . . After starting this thread I am now on Anthem. No 6 to 5! One dealer on Harmony emailed that it was 6 to 5 fleetwide, but here on Anthem a dealer said it is being "tested". So if you see 6 to 5 blackjack payout on any ship -- complain! The 6 to 5 odds really hurts the player and gives the casino, another advantage.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Lady Hudson: Any bet that gives a player less than true odds, which happens to be most bets, hurts the player and gives the casino a huge advantage. That is why I like to play craps and stay only with certain bets. Those bets either pay at true odds or close to it. In any casino game the house will win most number of decisions. If you could play true odds you will play close to the house most times unless of course, you have bad luck.

However, there are some players that do bet more than that, at least initially. I think every casino lets you do that because it's easier on the dealers. It's a nine chip payout. $15 on the pass, $15 odds on 4 or 10 payout is $45 $15 on the pass, $20 odds on 5 or 9 payout is $45 $15 on the pass, $25 odds on 6 or 8 payout is $45 It's only useful on rccl because of the single odds. I also like it when the game is fast, it's easy to spot when a mistake is made.

Greyhound3 Posted September 22, 2017 #22 Share Posted September 22, 2017 The answer is simple - don't play BJ at any table that pays 6:5, and be sure to let the casino manager know why you refuse to play. With enough complaints and enough empty tables, changes will be made. Grey
