Viking River Cruise Rhine getaway

We are doing the Rhine Getaway 11-01-17 on Viking

VIKING LONGSHIP IDI - Amsterdam - Basel.

This is our first River cruise,

looking for any recommendations or suggestions!

There is a thread below this (page 2) "Rhine River Christmas Markets - must sees" that gives a lot of info about the stops on your cruise that are not Christmas specific. You might find it helpful.

I highly recommend the stickie on top of the page for first time river cruisers. You can look at the river cruising roll call thread for the Viking Rhine sailings (not sure what the thread is called exactly). Great info there with many details, see also last years if you have plenty of time to spare. It is long.

 

The weather can be chilly and you will feel it more on the sundeck on the ship than in enclosed towns. Take hat, scarf and gloves for early morning excursions and scenic viewing on the sundeck. You might not need it every day but they are good things to have ready to put on.

I am going on this trip on Oct. 7-14 can you please tell me what type of clothing I should bring. Also does the ship have a laundry room?

One of the optional excursions was the beer hoping tour in the evening. We had a great time and I collected the coasters at each bar and put them into a frame. You will love this cruise.

We will find out, they are changing daily, and I am not so worried. It can be inconvenient to move to another ship in the next city.
