maggot13 Posted September 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2017 Hi, We are going from Southampton in October and have the classic drinks included in our cruise. Can any one advise what drinks it includes? anyone know the cost of drinks on board? for example could i get a gin and tonic on this package? can i get a bloody mary on this package? is it worth upgrading to premium? anyone been recently and have a bar menu? Thanks.
rickpo Posted September 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2017 Hi maggot13, there is a list towards the rear of the brochure (2018/19 cruises) if you can get hold of one. I ordered mine from the web site, it came in a couple of days. Its not a bad selection. Rick.
rmalbers Posted September 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2017 This comes up all the time in this forum but here you go: you can get about any drink you want with cheaper booze in it, not top line booze. Not many good wines at all with classic and just basic beers. If you want top line booze or beer and better wine, then upgrade.
suekay Posted September 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2017 It might be best if you get on board before upgrading. That way you can see what's included plus you might save a little money if you don't upgrade immediately as the cost is pro-rated on the number of days left to cruise. Don't forget you only have to pay the difference in price between the $9 limit on the classic drink package and the cost of the premium drink
jellyfish39 Posted September 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2017 While most bars will serve you drinks using a lesser priced brand of alcohol (rather than a premium brand) I have found that in a couple of bars (including the Martini bar) I wasn't able to order a Martini with my Classic package - they claimed they just had the premium alcohol stocked at the bar, so couldn't make me a Martini using regular gin or vodka. Regular mixed drinks were fine but the specialty cocktails were all with Premium alcohol. This was a small hassle as we tended to meet friends at the Martini bar for pre-dinner drinks and my husband and others had upgraded to premium package, I ended up grabbing a drink from elsewhere. eandj Posted October 8, 2017 #21 Share Posted October 8, 2017 We always upgrade to premium from classic drink package. Do the math, its a no brainer. It's not always a "no brainer" to upgrade to premium since X changed the drink package policy. Now you are welcome to order from the premium menu and just pay the cost difference per drink. Unless you are going to always order premium menu drinks, run the numbers. Might be a better value to pay the small upcharge.

Rare 81Zoomie Posted October 8, 2017 #23 Share Posted October 8, 2017 On our previous Caribbean on the Reflection we upgraded to the premium package mostly for the wine. We were very disappointed in the selection and availability of the wines. We sailed on the Eclipse out of Southampton in August. We were pleasantly surprised by the variety and availability of the wines in the classic package. We elected not to upgrade. We drink mixed drinks as well, but we're satisfied with the offerings. The only thing I missed was Baileys in my coffee, but I substituted Kahlua and got by. If you are a martini drinker or like your liquor on the rocks you may prefer to upgrade. It's really a personal choice.
