Luggage at Venice port

We are cruising in/out of Venice, staying in Mestre before and after the cruise. 2 questions - Can we drop off our luggage at the port early on embarkation day, then go do some sightseeing and come back later to board? Also, is there a place to store our luggage on debarkation day at the port to do some sightseeing, then pick it up later and take the bus to Mestre?

I understand that there is a luggage storage place in Piazzale Roma near the People Mover station. Hopefully somebody who has used it will be along soon.

Don't know what time your ship will take luggage, but by the time you get packed up, have b'fast, and bus over from Mestre, it will probably be close to 9 or 10am, so hopefully they'll be ready for you.

 

Post cruise, the Left Luggage office in Piazzale Roma is convenient. After you disembark, take the People Mover to Piazzale Roma (1.5E). The office is practically next door to the people mover entrance/exit. ( If the ship won't take your luggage pre-cruise, you could always leave here instead, but at 7e per bag, free is better.) The Grand Canal is about a 2 block walk across PRoma, then take a left and you'll see the vaporetto station.

(I assume you will only have 1 suitcase each...... any excess could be left with your hotel during the cruise.)
