Winter NYC Cruise - NCL vs RCL

Hi,

We might book either the Breakaway (or Anthem again) this week. Would appreciate anyone's opinion on both ships for the holiday season (or preferences in general for a winter sailing). I've read about hesitation regarding the Breakaway for a 7 night sailing during the winter. Last year we did a 10 night on Anthem and loved it. We are concerned about things to do indoors for at least half of the cruise being cold weather.

In particular:

-Daytime comparison (lack of indoor space on the Breakaway)?

-Nighttime entertainment comparison?

-Is there a guest entertainer on the winter 7 night cruises?

-Guest comparison during holiday season? Had a lot of tri-state area on Anthem, how about Breakaway?

-Grown low to mid-20's children - any preference? People around their age on both for the holiday sailings?

-Included food option comparison?

-If per day pricing was equal, what would you choose? We are hesitant to break from our favorite ship/cruise line with Royal but are open minded.

-What are the chances we can dock at the private island during the winter / holiday sailing?

Thanks!

Hi,

In particular:

-Daytime comparison (lack of indoor space on the Breakaway)?probably less indoor space on BA if you consider places like two70 as "open space". Lots of things to do and see for the first 1/2 day until you get to warmer weather. The thermal suite on the BA is definitely a place to go.

-Nighttime entertainment comparison?two Broadway shows on the BA compared to on on Anthem. Similar process.

-Is there a guest entertainer on the winter 7 night cruises?there are always guest entertainers on both ships.

-Guest comparison during holiday season? Had a lot of tri-state area on Anthem, how about Breakaway?same on BA.

-Grown low to mid-20's children - any preference? People around their age on both for the holiday sailings?Maybe a bit less on the Anthem.

-Included food option comparison?more restaurants on the BA. Both complimentary and additional fee. Sorentos and two70 are more of a novelty than a restaurant. You could get the same at the buffet on the BA.

-If per day pricing was equal, what would you choose? We are hesitant to break from our favorite ship/cruise line with Royal but are open minded.thw Breakaway.

-What are the chances we can dock at the private island during the winter / holiday sailing?like coco cay and great stirrup cay are tender ports (about 1/2 mile apart). We are 6 for 6 getting to GSC at all times of the year.

Thanks!

We have sailed on both the Breakaway and the Anthem this year. Comparing the two, we would pick the Breakaway.

Hello - I did both ships during the winter & LOVED both!! Breakaway had so much to do as well, we were ever bored. We went last week of November and during the day we still enjoyed the Waterfront, played games, trivia, deal or no deal, bingo, took advantage of the free open bar, played games in O'Sheehans, casino, went to Wine the Musical, random shows the cruise provided.. We had 3 days that we could enjoy the outdoors. I was with a group 25-33 year olds & there was a bunch of us. Parties were so fun at night. We didn't make it to the private island (bummer =( ) so we headed to Nassau early & spent the night there
