MIA Hotel Location with 85 y/o mom for 2 nights pre-cruise.

My sister and I (in our 60's) are taking mom on a cruise out of Miami in January for her 85th birthday. We have not been to Miami for decades, so we plan to spend two nights pre-cruise in January.

In what neighborhood should we stay? We want a hotel under $250 that is near restaurants/shopping in a safe area. Mom does not walk more than 1/4 mile, so we would take Uber to restaurants and shopping. We plan to do a tour or Hop-on-Hop-off bus and just remain on the bus.

We would like to stay where we could get from MIA to hotel, and from hotel to POM for under $30 via Uber.

The beach nearby would be nice but not mandatory.

Suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

$250.00 may be a challenge. I would stay downtown where you won't be too far from restaurants and shopping.

Some hotels that come to mind include:

Hampton Inn (includes breakfast but not a full service hotel).

Intercontinental

Hyatt

Port Of Miami Holiday Inn

Others comes to mind but even what I have mentioned I can't be sure the pricing not knowing your dates but this is a good place to start.

From their roll call posts the OP is sailing on Wednesday January 17.

So looking for a hotel Monday and Tuesday night. And Monday is MLK Day.

It is possible that some hotels in the Brickell area--Hampton Inn as mentioned above, or Homewood Suites--will squeak in under your budget. (I sure hope you meant $250 per night, not in total). Transportation costs should be safely within your expectations: you are a reasonable ride away from MIA, and a short hop to the Port with lots of shopping and restaurants within minutes.

Anything "near the beach" will carry a premium rate at least for the first night of your stay. Plus double your Uber expense, not to mention whatever food budget you had in mind.
