Celebrity just told me the outdoor stairs on Century are for crew only!

I have read here that people go out by the stairs to read or smoke etc. and was going to book a family cabin aft in order to get that "air" benefit since no large balcony sky suite is available any longer.

My travel agent tried to tell me I could not smoke on a balcony. Well, you sure can on other Celebrity ships!

As far as being for crew only, I doubt it. Those steps are the perfect way to travel between the aft Cat 3 cabins and the outside buffet area on Deck 11. Also unless something has changed since we sailed on her, those doors were not posted as being crew only.

As a matter of fact, if you click on the Mercury link in Mahdnc's signature you will find his great photos of the family view cabins which include an outside shot of the public deck and the stairs. Our daughters shared a family view on her in October and used the stairs constantly.

As a sister ship, I would think the Century is pretty much the same.

I thought it was a great idea, too, having heard it here on cruise critic. I just mentioned to the travel agent on a 3 way call to Celebrity that since there was no longer a sky suite on deck 12 available, I'd have to settle for another place to smoke: the staircase aft. that's when the Celebrity agent put us on hold and asked her supervisor! As long as there's no sign, I'll use it. Thanks, ya'll.
