chumley28540 Posted December 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2017 When I booked our cruise in Feb for 4/29/18 I asked for the insurance and my PVP added it but said I did not have to pay for it until final payment. My husband has developed a cyst on his spine and will be having surgery 3/13. That gives him 6 weeks for recovery. I started checking on the insurance in the event we would have to cancel. There is a very confusing line about 60 days prior to purchasing the ins and a diagnosis. I called and was told as long as it was not a previous condition we should be ok. I paid for the insurance 12/10. He was diagnosed in November. Any thoughts on this? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
riffatsea Posted December 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 12, 2017 The person you spoke to on the phone is not an insurance specialist. They just sell cruises. IF the look back period for pre existing conditions is 60 days that means your husband's diagnosis falls within that period. IF the policy does not cover pre existing conditions then his will not be covered either since it "pre exists" the look back period.
HerbertandB Posted December 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 12, 2017 When did you add the insurance? When you booked in Feb 2017 or at a later time?
riffatsea Posted December 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 12, 2017 It is confusing to read that you "added" insurance when you booked in February but you didn't actually pay for it. I am not aware of being able to use insurance that has not been purchased(paid for)

They are not the insurance company. You bought the insurance 2 days ago, after you known about the condition. Therefore, the insurance should not pay you for anything. So insurance is non-refundable most likely, so you just wasted that money. Now, go ahead and cancel your cruise, submit a claim, and hope for the best. Final payment not due till 1/29. Lesson learned I guess! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

evandbob Posted December 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Diagnosed in November and waiting until mid March for surgery? Yikes!
firemanbobswife Posted December 12, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2017 Not sure how Carnival insurance works. I always get mine through a third party like Nationwide Choice Cruise. Pretty sure you would have been covered with that one had you bought and paid for it.
riffatsea Posted December 12, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 12, 2017 The question is when you "added" it but did not actually pay for it ,did the insurance go into effect? I don't think so but only the insurance company can really answer that question.
