How soon before board can you check carryon luggage at the port?

I noticed that Amsterdam leaves from Berth 93 World Cruise Center on Sep 30, but returns to Berth 46 on Dec 21. Berth 46 is not at the World Cruise Center terminal, but further south at the "outer harbor".

Interesting. Thanks for the websites. I guess we will just have to wait and see, although it looks like Berth 93 for departure.

Off topic, but I noticed the Catalina ferry leaves from both Long Beach and San Pedro. Is this an excursion that is worth taking or is Catalina too touristy?

It was a longer ride than I expected, but I enjoyed it ... not "too" touristy IMO.

There is an undeniable advantage to arriving so late in that there will be less traffic on the freeways! Driving to Redondo beach would be easy for me and to Long beach a little bit more effort, but then I am used to southern California freeways. I can understand that you might be apprehensive after arriving tired late at night.

You could certainly take an Uber/Lyft car to your hotel and then rent a car the next day. The costs would offset as there would be one less day of car rental.

I've thought of that, but the idea of arriving at 9:00 p.m. at LAX and finding our way to, perhaps, Redondo Beach or Long Beach (the Amsterdam is scheduled to be in Long Beach) is daunting. I don't like traversing strange highways for the first time at dark. Maybe an Uber to Redondo and then rent a car for a couple of days. It would simplify last minute shopping. Does that sound feasible? Or is the the highway from LAX to Redondo an easy trip?

Thank you. That makes the most sense to me.
