Rare GeezerCouple Posted December 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2017 Apparently a British tourist was just sentenced to 3 years in prison in Egypt, for carrying narcotics for her Egyptian husband: http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/26/middleeast/laura-plummer-egypt-tramadol/index.html I'm sure there is much more to this, on both sides, but... while it is all sorted out (hopefully, it will be, if it is as it appears in this report!)... And apparently, the sentence could have been far more severe. THIS is why we always check ahead about drug laws, and take the time/effort (thus far, never difficult) to get any necessary permissions well in advance. On occasion, something is not allowed, or requires advance permission, or is subject to limitations, when we hadn't thought of it at all as a potential problem (e.g., certain cold meds, or even EpiPens, needles/syringes for non-narcotics, etc., and not just narcotics). Note: I realize that some of this report might seem a bit "iffy", but it's just a short report. The point is: When traveling, we are in "their" country, and subject to "their" laws as well as "how they enforce those laws".... wherever one is.... easyboy Posted December 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2017 There could really be some serious doubts based on the quantity. You are right - their country, their laws. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
