Best Beach for Kids -- Grand Cayman

Hello,

 

We are trying to decide between Calico Jacks and Hilton. They are both along 7 Mile Beach, right?

 

We will have 2 preschoolers with us.

 

Which beach do you prefer? Why? And would you mind giving me step by step directions on how to get there...

The area around Calico Jacks has all the "amenities" a family could want...restrooms, food/drink, chair rentals, watersport rentals...and it's only a few steps to the bus when you're ready to go!

 

The GC bus service is excellent!

Did you check with the Hilton regarding day passes when you're there? The hotels don't often have them available, and that would be a prime factor in your decision.

 

Calico Jacks/Public Beach is where I normally recommend families go as there's a playground and a bit more space to run around than at some of the other beach clubs.

 

Getting there is easy. At the port exit, get in a taxi (large multi-passenger vans) and ask to go to Calico Jacks. They'll group you with other passengers headed there. The fare would be about $6pp each way.

 

You could also take the public bus, for $2.50pp, but you have to walk a few blocks inland to the terminal, and that might be difficult with pre-schoolers and their gear.
