Late Flight From FLL

We have a late flight (8pm) from FLL after an Allure cruise in June. The timing falls out of the parameters to take advantage of luggage valet with Southwest Air.

 

We do have a car rental on hold so that is an option but we know the rental lines are long and the traffic exiting the port is terrible.

 

Any other suggestions.....hotel room for the day? RCCL excursion?

Given how speedy they are getting people off that ship I would go with the rental car.

 

With the RCI excursion it will still leave you with a lot of time before your flight.

 

The Southwest Terminal at Fort Lauderdale is really very basic so I would enjoy the day have an early dinner and then get to the airport around 6:00 PM.

You can search for hotels/resorts offering day passes to their facilities - I would search for options along the beach, and with a car you could even use some of the Miami Beach resorts. Try this link: www.resortpass.com/

 

Some hotels will offer day rates - Roadway Inn is one budget option near FLL, but I doubt you'd want to spend the day there.

We're doing a hop on/hop off bus around Miami for the time. I like having the open ended option and still remain in the city.

A couple year back we went to the airport, stored our bags, and then took the free Sun Trolley to the Riverwalk. The free trolley also stopped at other places. For us, it was all that we needed and much better than sitting around the airport. Note: The airport route only operates on Saturday and Sundays.
