Rare Keith1010 Posted January 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Not familiar with it. You may have already done this but if not be sure to read reviews on Trip Advisor which is Cruise Critic's sister site. For me that is my go to site for hotel reviews and restaurant reviews. xtrail Posted January 19, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted January 19, 2018 for sure , the only problem I find with reviews a lot of the time is the swing from "fabolous, staff were amazing , food is great" ,to......... terrible , staff were rude ,food was awful" , I guess you can only go by more good reviews that bad ones or vise versa. :)
fishywood Posted January 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2018 (edited) The property is also advertised as a condo-hotel. You should confirm whether you have reserved a suite or villa that is "owned and managed by Provident Hotels & Resorts" (an obviously untrue general statement from the website given the same site also hawks the condo-hotel units) or the below market price you have gotten is for an owner's rent-out. The presence of both types of units on the same property could account for the wide extremes in customer ratings as well. The website mentions "shuttle service on request" so you best check if you need to pre-reserve an airport pick up, assuming it or the port are within the shuttle's range. If not you do realize you are much farther away from PortMiami than most cruise passengers prefer and traffic in the grossly overbuilt suburb that is Doral is horrid even on a regular Saturday morning--and President's Day weekend may be the busiest of the year for events in greater Miami. So why is this country club resort priced so reasonably on a holiday weekend? Could be due to the mass exodus of companies reserving group events at Doral National. Or that your resort overlooking the 12th and 13th holes of the Blue Monster simply reminds too many people of the course's current owner.
