Suite benefits

Hey - not to steal your thread but I too have questions about NCL suites - we booked an AD penthouse on Spirit.

Specific questions:

Do suites have robes in them already or do you have to ask for them?

Do you get any champagne upon embarkation? Does the Conceriege meet you at the dock VIP area and show you on board to your suite?

Do you get similar disembarkation treatment?

Is the butler more accessible than a normal room steward?

Thanks

Rick

I am pondering same questions for an AD suite on the Dawn. NCL sales simply quoted off the website re: the butler and concierge are available. She said NO special treatment getting on or off ship. Thought I read on these posts suite people get onto shore faster.

We have stayed in AD's on the Dawn several times. We are also booked in an AD on the Spirit. The answer to all your questions above is "yes". You get a lot of perks with the suite. A lot of extra's and great service. Well worth the extra money. You will have nice robes in the suites, champagne, fruit, fresh flowers, a private butler (we love the butler!), conceirge, invites to captains parties, goodies delivered to your suite each afternoon and/or evening, etc. They really know how to spoil you. be careful, though. Once you cruise in a suite, you'll never go back to a regular cabin again.

jodyrick & BeachMusic,

When you get to the pier go to the VIP waiting area. It's up a few stairs from the regular area. Someone will come and get you when they start boarding. You will go to the front of the line and then to a table where the Concierge will greet you and give you your key cards.

The Butler will come around to see you in your cabin or you can call. There's a card in the cabin with the Concierge & Butler numbers. There's a paper to fill out for reserving restaurants. You can do that or talk to the Concierge.

There are robes in your cabin, if not just let the cabin steward know. Most times they are out being washed and will be in your cabin that night!

There's is a bottle of chilled champagne in your cabin. The butler will bring anything you want.

Remember, there are 2 Garden Villas, 4 AAs, 10 AB Suites, 4 AD's and 8 AE. You are staying in the top suites on the ship and will be treated as such. We have stayed in an AE & now twice in an AA.

You will be given VIP baggage tags to debark. You will meet the Concierge in one of the restaurants on the morning to debark. He will escort you off the ship and to your baggage area. It's real easy then.

You also will receive VIP Tender Tickets for any port that you anchor at.

You also get an Invitation to the Captains VIP Cocktail Party on the first Optional Forma Night.

Any more questions, just fire away.

Happy Sailing,

Monty

Many thanks for your answers to my questions - that clarifies much for us. We love staying in suites - seems to be the right way to go and NCL just had a fabulous price for the AD on the Spirit in November. We're paying a bit less for this suite than we did for a standard balcony cabin on Celebrity to Alaska this past May.

So releived to hear accurate information. I get different answers each time I call NCL. Maybe Monty and some of you other cruisers could work for them! (much more competent). Now how about this question. The Dawn offers 1/2 price off inside cabin when booking suite or above. for family groups. When I attempted to book with this offer, I was told it was not combinable w/ NYS resident discount and that I need to PAY IN FULL at time of booking for my April cruise. I have searched their website and the NCL brochure, where the offer is listed and can find no mention of these stipulations. Has anyone else out there booked with the "Family Special prices"? The salesgirl kept checking with her supervisor, said I was the first person to ask for this offer, and that no, she could not provide written rules, or explain why cruise had to be paid in full. Anyone?

BeachMusic: We are booked on the Star 1/04 and are using the Family Special. We have a cat AB with adjoining AF. They will not let you combine offers including Latitudes member discount. We are paying the book rate but with the discount compared to other discounts we had available we are still around $200 less. You just need to shop around for the best discount and if it happens to be the Family Special then book that rate. The discount is taken at time of final payment so you might see full rate after deposit pending the final payment. Enjoy your cruise.

Not entirely true. Our next cruise we have a Casino at Sea discount, on top of a Latitudes discount, to which we added a Future Cruise Credit, and then we negotiated a little discount through our travel agent...and the cruise is still almost a year away. I'm working on finding any other discounts I can!

THANKS SO MUCH BEAVERPT. GOOD TO KNOW IT'S NOT JUST ME. I KEEP ASKING FOR THE INFO IN WRITING, AND THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO E-MAIL ME THIS PM. BUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE TELLING ME. I DID COMPARE W/ ALL OTHER DISCOUNTS I COULD FIND AND I AM ENDING UP WITH A SAVINGS OF ABOUT $350 OVER THE OTHERS FOR A TEN DAY CRUISE. SO OFF I GO TO PAY IN FULL FOR SUITE, WILL SEE THEN IF INSIDE CABIN DROPS DOWN. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL.

My experience on the Dawn pretty close to the way you describe. The first part is exactly the way things went for DH and I. We waited in the upstairs area to board. We were escorted to a table to check in, met the concierge, Claudio (the BEST concierge I've ever had) and he directed us to our cabin. Our butler, Carmen met us in our cabin a short time after we arrived.

The robes were delivered to our cabin the first evening. They are very nice.

The champagne was in our cabin upon embarkation. There were no flowers. The second day we found a pointsettia in our suite. It was never watered and died before the end of the cruise. I finally put it outside the door to be taken away.

Someone mentioned that you will receive goodies in your cabin each day. This wasn't true for us. When I asked about it, Carmen said that they only deliver goodies on the first day, a day in the middle of the cruise and the last sea day. Also, they do provide a fruit bowl, however, it is NEVER replenished during the cruise, even if you ask. I finally asked for it to be removed since the fruit was rotting. That was pretty gross actually.

The VIP debarkation was WONDERFUL! What a pleasure. :) Did I mention that Claudio is the BEST concierge I've ever had? :)

The VIP Captain's party was lovely. It was intimate enough to actually spend some time chatting with the officers. The captain of the Dawn is lovely, as is Linda, the cruise Director that was on board. I've heard different stories about Ricky, one said that he was on vacation and another said he wouldn't be back on the Dawn. I'm not sure which is true.

We enjoyed our cruise very much and the suite perks were very nice. However, the butler service was a bit lacking for us.

We stayed in a trio of suites on the Majesty in December 2005. While the Majesty is smaller and doesn't offer the variety of suite choices that the larger ships do, it was still a very nice experience. There were only 20 suites on the entire ship all confined to a small section of the ship on deck 9 forward away from most of main thoroughfares. Other than pedestrian traffic on the stairwells its pretty cozy. Our concierge, Karin Goedecke, was exceptional and truly earned her $100 tip for the week.

The concierge takes care of a lot of small details that you might otherwise have to handle yourself. You get VIP express tender tickets at ports of call if you do not take excursions. She will make all of your dinner reservations and maybe get you into places that you might otherwise not or at more desireable times... You get the VIP baggage tags for express debarkation early. The concierge usually helps you at ports of call like Key West where you have to get checked by customs in order to get off the boat. Also on debarkation day she will help with customs info and also will be in the debarkation luggage area to help identify luggage and direct traffic.

Suite cabins include robes, the nice toiletries, full size bathrooms with marble tubs, and of course extra special attention from the staff. We got goodies every single afternoon on the cruise which ranged from chocolate covered strawberries to shrimp and dip to other goodies. Upon embarkation we got a bow-tie basket of fruit, and bottle of champagne. Plus the travel agent threw in a cheese and cracker tray since we told her we didn't drink. She obtained for us incredible deals so I couldn't complain on anything else.

Like they say when you go suite its hard to go any other way...
