dad2my3 Posted January 22, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2018 We will be on the Grand this summer, sailing to Alaska and back from San Francisco. The 4th of July is going to be our last sea day. Has anyone sailed on the 4th before? If so, was there anything special to celebrate? (I can’t imagine a 4th of July without fireworks, but I’m preparing myself.) Is it possible that they might have something festive happening because of the holiday? I’m just curious...
CruiserBruce Posted January 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2018 I wouldn't be expecting fireworks. Not going to happen.
Mac Daddy Posted January 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2018 We did an Alaska cruise on Princess over both Canada Day (July 1) and 4th of July. For both holidays there were some additional decorations around the ship, but definitely no fireworks.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Many years ago on Princes Cruise on 4th of July and our experience was a few decorations. No fireworks. Keith
stoneharborlady Posted January 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2018 There was a table in the atrium with many decoratively carved fruits and vegetables for the fourth of July. Very pretty, but that was it.
yags Posted January 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2018 We are going to be on the same ship. I must admit I wondered briefly about fireworks but by the last day on a ship full of Bloody Mary's I think there will be enough fireworks exploding inside my head. myfuzzy Posted January 22, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2018 Don't forget July 4th is a United States holiday, no one else "celebrates" it. They just put up a few decorations to acknowledge U.S. passengers. The same with Canada Day, July 1st, we don't "celebrate" it here in the U.S. As a side note, other than states bordering Canada, I'm sure the majority of U.S. citizens never even heard of Canada Day.
